The Finance and Administrative Officer is responsible for operational matters concerning the Belgrade office, as well as the provision of all administrative and financial services and transactions. The Finance and Administrative Officer works in conjunction with Belgrade office staff, Washington-based DC Finance department, and other staff as needed.
Continue reading “Finance and Administrative Officer, Serbia (American Councils)”The Turkmenistan Higher Education (THE) Prep4Success and GRE programs provide promising Turkmenistan citizens with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully enter U.S. colleges and universities, independently, while increasing their chances of receiving financial aid. During an intensive 5-month P4S or GRE program based in Ashgabat, or 12-month regional Undergraduate Cohort Advising program, participants will focus on developing reading and essay writing skills, building critical thinking skills, and learning effective ways for taking the SAT and TOEFL tests, or GRE test.
The Program Director position will be responsible for the design and implementation of the programs, including participant and staff recruitment, training, and mentoring.

NSLI-Y is a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and American Councils acts as the prime grantee collaborating with other partner organizations. NSLI-Y provides merit-based scholarships for eligible U.S. high schools students to learn less commonly taught languages in summer and academic-year overseas immersion programs. Through the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) the Center for Jewish History (the Center) invites applications for an NEH Scholar in Residence that will support original research conducted at the Center. Applications are welcome from scholars working in a broad range of fields within the humanities and social sciences. The application deadline is December 15, 2022 for a residency from July 2023 through June 2024.

Tutors4Ukraine is looking for volunteers to tutor Ukrainian refugees and help them learn the language of their host countries. Volunteers do not have to be proficient in Ukrainian or Russian to tutor, and the minimum time commitment is once a week for two months.

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Yale University invites applications for an open-rank (tenured or tenure-track) faculty position in East European Literatures and Cultures, with an anticipated appointment start date of July 1, 2023. The area of specialization is fully open. The department especially welcomes interdisciplinary and comparative approaches. The successful candidate will have native or near-native fluency in at least one East European language other than Russian. Expertise in a second East European language and culture is a plus.
