Job: Editor in Chief, Hungarian Cultural Studies (American Hungarian Educators Association)

Hungarian Cultural Studies, e-Journal of the American Hungarian Educators Association, is a peer-reviewed, open access, no-fee scholarly journal, covering all aspects of Hungarian culture across the humanities and social sciences. Under the dynamic leadership of the founding Editor-in-Chief, Louise O. Vasvari, the journal has developed an excellent international reputation for publishing theoretically sophisticated and empirically grounded original research. In addition to full-length articles, the journal regularly publishes book reviews and bibliographies, and it supports emerging scholars from Hungary and neighboring states in helping them publish in English. The current Editor-in-Chief will step down following publication of the journal in August 2022. The Board of AHEA invites applications from scholars interested in taking on the role.

Job: Assistant Director, Center for Slavic, E European, and Eurasian Studies (Ohio State University)

The assistant director is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Center for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies, which includes program development and support; academic, student, and outreach oversight; and fiscal and data responsibilities. 

Minimum education requirement: Master’s degree in East European/Eurasian studies. Knowledge of one or more East European/Eurasian languages. 

Additional education desired: A degree or coursework in public policy, international affairs, or higher education administration. OR 2-3 years of program management experience in lieu of education.

Acad. Job: Summer Instructor of Elementary Ukrainian (Arizona State University)

ASU’s Critical Languages Institute (CLI) is seeking an instructor of Elementary Ukrainian for our 2022 summer institute.

The successful candidate will prepare a syllabus and teach Ukrainian 4 hours a day, five days a week, for seven weeks (May 31-July 15) on ASU Tempe campus. The Ukrainian instructor will also contribute to cultural programming, including a Ukrainian culture night and additional events based on students’ interest.

Acad. Job: Lecturer in Russian Language and Culture (Ohio State University)

Job posting: The Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at The Ohio State University invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Russian Language and Culture, beginning August 2022. While area of specialization is open, we are seeking a dynamic and talented instructor of Russian who can contribute to department strengths in any of the following areas: film (Russian and East European), popular culture, gender, literature, migration studies, and translation. Qualified applicants must hold a PhD in Russian/Slavic languages and cultures or related discipline by the time of appointment and have teaching experience in North America. Fluency in Russian and English is required. Proficiency in another Slavic language is desired. The successful candidate will teach 22-24 credit hours per year, both in English and in Russian (lower-level language courses are 4 cr.). The final course load will depend on service assignments which may include curriculum development, undergraduate advising, student organization mentorship, among others. This is a one-year appointment with the potential for renewal.
