The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of North Carolina Greensboro invites applications from academic professionals with established records of dynamic undergraduate teaching for a full-time, non-tenure-track position in Russian, effective August 2021. Applicants are required to possess native or near-native fluency in Russian. The nominal teaching load for this non-tenure-track appointment is 4-4. This is a one year contract appointment with the possibility for renewal. We do not have funding for relocation expenses.

The department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Stanford University is seeking applications for an acting assistant professor in the primary area of Russian literature and culture. The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures is part of the Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages, a consortium of departments that collaborate on curricular and research initiatives.  The primary specialization is in the 20th century; candidates with training in other disciplines, other subfields or periods, and other languages, including other Slavic languages, are encouraged to apply. This position will be for one year, renewable for up to three years total. We anticipate a start date of September 1, 2021.

Acad. Job: Lecturer in Polish (Brown U)

The Slavic Studies Department at Brown University invites applications for a lecturer in the Polish language to teach in the academic year of 2021/22 with the possibility of renewal; the duty time will depend on enrollment. Teaching responsibilities include all levels of Polish, organizing and participating in extracurricular activities for the Polish-language students. The teaching load is five courses per two semesters (3/2).
Qualifications: native or near-native proficiency in Polish and English; Ph.D. or MA degree or equivalent in Slavic Studies, preferably in Polish Linguistics/Philology; evidence of successful teaching Polish at the university level in the US. Desirable qualifications include a proven ability to teach an additional Slavic language or any other language spoken in East-Central Europe and a course dedicated to Polish culture.

Acad. Job: Polish Language Preceptor (Harvard)

The Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures at Harvard University seeks applications for a position as Preceptor in Polish Language. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2021 with teaching beginning in Fall Semester 2021. The preceptor will be responsible for courses in beginning and intermediate Polish (4 courses per academic year) and additional language tutorials in advanced Polish as needed. The preceptor will work with the Director of the Slavic Language Program to develop courses and materials in Polish language and assist with recruitment of students and expanding interest in the Polish language program. An interest in furthering broader Slavic Language Program goals is highly desirable, including materials development for Polish. There may also be opportunities to develop and lead a Harvard summer study abroad program in Poland. Preceptorships at Harvard are initially for one year, with multi-year contracts possible in subsequent years for up to eight total years, contingent upon performance, enrollments, curricular need, and divisional dean approval.  Interviews will be conducted by phone or video conference in spring 2021.

Acad. Job: Faculty Associate for Summer Elementary Intensive Russian (CLI, Arizona State University)

Arizona State University is seeking a faculty associate to teach elementary intensive Russian in its 2021 summer Critical Languages Institute. The program will be held online this summer. Candidates must have a Master’s degree or higher in philology, linguistics, language teaching or a closely related field by the time of appointment; possess native proficiency in Russian; and have at least one year’s experience teaching Russian at the university level to non-native speakers. Strong preference will go to candidates who have successfully taught in intensive language programs, to candidates with experience teaching online, and to candidates with high levels of proficiency in English. The successful candidate will teach Russian 4 hours a day, five days a week, via Zoom for eight weeks and will contribute to cultural programming. The successful candidate will be joining a team of three elementary and one intermediate Russian instructors.

The University of Georgia STARTALK Russian Language Summer Immersion Program, Intensive Russian for Future Global Professionals, is seeking a summer instructor to join us for the upcoming program June 1 – July 3, 2021. The program serves university students. We seek creative and enthusiastic instructors with a commitment to and demonstrated experience in immersive, innovative teaching, proficiency-based pedagogy, and curriculum development in content-based and cross-cultural language studies oriented toward international relations, business, STEM, culture, and sustainability. We are currently planning to host students and instructors in-person in Athens, GA; if conditions do not permit gatherings on-campus, the program will be conducted synchronously online. The Center for Slavic and East European Studies, the East Asian Studies Center, and the Center for Historical Research invite applications for a 1-year postdoctoral fellowship. We seek an emerging scholar with proven interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary interests in East Asian and Slavic/East European Studies whose work connects to the Center for Historical Research’s theme of “Crisis, Uncertainty, and History: Trajectories and Experiences of Accelerated Change.” The fellowship carries a one course per semester teaching load (two courses over one year). The teaching duties are expected to include one graduate course and one undergraduate course that can employ various disciplinary and methodological approaches.

Western Colorado University invites applications for a one-year Lecturer position in History beginning in August 2021. The History Program at Western Colorado University is part of the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences. The Program has 2 full-time faculty members and approximately 45 Majors and three tracts: Standard History major, Secondary Licensure, and Public History. We are looking for innovative forward thinking faculty to help modernize our History program offerings.
 
Duties:

General area of specialization is European but second fields outside of US, Africa and Latin America are of interest especially experience or specialization in Digital History. Teaching load is 24 semester credits per academic year (4 courses per semester) and involves academic advising, assisting with the History League, program recruitment and the development of Digital History projects and/or course. There is also the opportunity to develop and deliver innovative courses in their area of expertise. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon strong performance and funding availability.
