We announce the first call for papers for the Slavic Cognitive Linguistics Conference (SCLC-2020), the 17th conference of the Slavic Cognitive Linguistics Association (SCLA). The conference will take place on December 4-6, 2020 at UiT The Arctic University of Tromsø in Tromsø, Norway.
The confirmed invited speaker is Martin Haspelmath (Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History).
We invite abstracts for 20+10 min presentations on any topic of relevance to Slavic Cognitive Linguistics. Abstracts should be based on work that has not yet been published. We especially encourage submissions from young researchers. Abstracts can be written in English or in any Slavic language. Abstracts should not be longer than 500 words, including references. Please refrain from any self-identification in the body of the abstract. Each individual may be involved in a maximum of two abstracts (maximum one as sole author). Abstracts should be submitted via EasyChair. Abstract submission link is https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sclc2020.
The deadline for abstract submission is May 22, 2020. Authors will be notified of acceptance / rejection by June 30, 2020.

Who are we looking for?
IGNITE is looking for Fellows from across the ideological spectrum who are deeply motivated, take initiative, have organizing experience on college campuses and in their communities and have a proven track record of building new initiatives and sustained programming. We are specifically looking for young women who have a history of serving their communities through volunteer activities, internships, public office, or other civic engagement activities. American Cultural Exchange Service (ACES) is seeking a qualified Resident Director (RD) to work on site with a group of up to 15 US high school students for an approximately six-week (from the end of June to mid-August) program in Moscow, Russia through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program. In Russia, students will engage in language learning in both formal (language courses) and informal settings (host family living). The RD is required to attend a two-day pre-program training in Bellevue, WA (late May to early June), attend a student orientation in Washington D.C., represent ACES for the duration of the program in Moscow, and submit a final report at the end of the program.
Continue reading “Job: Resident Director in Moscow”The Russian Studies Workshop (RSW) at Indiana University’s Russian and East European Institute (REEI) and Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies (HLS) invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship beginning August 1, 2020. Applicants should be scholars conducting research on Russia while contributing to interdisciplinary and international debates. Special consideration will be given to scholars who have conducted extensive research and have strong Russian language skills. The fellowship is $50,000/year and includes benefits.
The postdoctoral fellow will teach one course per year; importantly, after teaching this course, the finished syllabus and auxiliary materials (handouts, course packets, etc.) will be shared with HLS at the end of the fellowship. The fellow is expected to maintain a vigorous research program during the fellowship, and actively participate in the RSW, including leading a monthly writing group for Russian Studies PhD students. Fellows are required to be in residence in Bloomington, Indiana.
