Embedded Scholars Program for UT Students

The 2026 Embedded Scholars Application is now open for UT students to apply for Summer 2026 internships in democratic and constitutional development in the Balkans, Central Asia, Europe, and Latin America. This is a partially funded international internship open to undergraduate and graduate students from any major at UT.

The program provides unparalleled opportunities for students interested in democracy to work with CID Gallup and International IDEA in Latin America, with International IDEA in Europe, and with the National Democratic Institute, Transparency International, and the United Nations Development Programme in the Balkans, Central Asia, and Eurasia. Students receive training at UT in the spring before going abroad for the summer to support democracy assistance programs in the field.

NSA 2026 Intelligence Analysis Summer Internship Program – Maryland and Hawaii

Join students from across the country and lend your knowledge to national security in one of NSA’s over 30 summer internship programs. These 12 week paid programs run from mid-May to mid-August and are open to undergraduate freshman up to Ph.D. students depending on internship requirements. These internships are open to a wide variety of majors and give students the opportunity to work directly with mission-critical problems and experience the excitement of working in NSA spaces.

The NSA Summer Internship Programs at our Fort Meade, MD and Oahu, HI location offers students exciting, impactful professional work opportunities (with pay and limited benefits!) to grow their knowledge of the Intelligence Community and federal government while advancing NSA’s two primary missions: 1) Collecting, analyzing, and producing foreign signals intelligence; and 2) Providing cybersecurity solutions and guidance to protect critical national infrastructure. These summer internship opportunities are open to students who are pursuing education in a variety of degree programs.

Description

Dickinson College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment in the Department of Russian at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2026. Specialization is open to any area of Russian or Russophone literature, film and media, and culture broadly construed; candidates with additional areas of expertise, including regional and disciplinary, will be especially attractive. The teaching load is five undergraduate courses over two semesters, which includes a mix of content courses in English and language teaching in Russian at all levels. Alongside contributing to the college’s liberal arts curriculum, all Dickinson faculty contribute to the interdisciplinary first-year seminar program once per sabbatical cycle.

Sonja Luehrmann Article Prize for Graduate Students and Untenured Faculty

Soyuz: The Research Network for Postsocialist Cultural Studies is accepting submissions for the 2025 Sonja Luehrmann Article Prize for the best published peer-reviewed article related to the culture, history, or politics of (post)socialism, broadly defined. Although we encourage submissions that contribute to the advancement and nuancing of contemporary scholarly understandings of (post)socialism, (post)communism, and decolonization, submitted entries may be on any topic that falls within the broad scope of interest represented by Soyuz. Submissions from any discipline are welcome.

CFP: Workshop in Ukrainian Studies (NYC)

The Shevchenko Scientific Society in the United States, in partnership with the American Association for Ukrainian Studies and Razom for Ukraine, is pleased to announce a call for applications from early-career scholars. PhD candidates studying at US universities and post-doctoral fellows who received their PhD degrees within the past three years are invited to apply for participation in an interdisciplinary workshop in Ukrainian Studies. Applicants engaged in a wide range of approaches and subfields are welcome to apply. Topics include, but are not limited to, civil society, culture, economic development, gender, historical memory, humanitarian aid, international relations, migration, and war.The in-person workshop will be held in New York City on October 31 – November 1, 2025, which will provide participants with an opportunity to attend some events at the Ukrainian Cultural Festival.

Higher education has long been one of the most powerful instruments for legitimizing state claims and cultivating national consciousness. In non- or partly-recognized states (NPRS), universities and other higher education institutions (HEIs) not only shape local identity and historical narratives but also attempt to secure symbolic and material forms of recognition—whether through accreditation, partnerships, or student and faculty mobility. At the same time, crises of sovereignty, conflict, or political fragmentation often force HEIs into exile, split institutions, or compel them to operate under severe political constraints.

CFP: Contemporary Political Myth and Reality in Eurasia (University of Texas at Austin)

The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies, Clements Center for National Security, and Department of Government are pleased to announce a joint conference on Contemporary Political Myth and Reality in Eurasia, taking place February 12-13, 2026, at UT Austin.

Eurasian states face mounting challenges amid growing polarization, gaps between social needs and political responses, and disinformation blurring myth and reality. Further, Eurasian states face additional pressures from a legacy of authoritarian rule, active conflict and irredentism, and political mobilization of social divisions across the region. Yet Eurasian countries also have unique strengths in navigating these challenges, with strong national identities, robust civic engagement, bursts of democratic progress, and deep cultural traditions.

CFP: Literatures & Linguistics Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference (Florida State, Tallahassee)

We are accepting proposals for our upcoming Literatures & Linguistics Interdisciplinary (LINC) Graduate Conference on “Beyond Fracture: Reimagining Futures through Divergence and Convergence: Constructing New Paths Across Division, Resistance, and Solidarity. 

The conference isscheduled for March 5-6, 2026 at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL. Organized by graduate students, this interdisciplinary conference will provide a space to discuss divergence and convergence as tools for imagining and reimagining the future across fields, including literature, linguistics, cultural studies, history, gender and sexuality studies, and others.

This year’s theme, “Beyond Fracture: Reimagining Futures through Divergence and Convergence,” invites participants to examine ways that we can chart directions for the future. We welcome submissions that reflect a diverse range of interests, from linguistic analysis to cultural studies and literary exploration.

As a research intern, you will embark on a rigorous educational journey guided by the Doctoral Candidate Research Advisors and Master’s Student Research Assistants serving as research mentors. This role provides comprehensive academic resources, expert lectures, and specialized workshops designed to enhance your readiness for graduate studies. Faculty interaction is streamlined to enrich this experience, with opportunities to attend two class sessions per semester, ensuring hands-on learning and professional development under the mentorship of seasoned scholar-practitioners. 

Intern Benefits

Upon successful completion of the Research Internship and Graduate Pathway Program, participants gain access to preferential consideration for IWP’s master’s degrees. Additionally, eligible interns will receive a $3,000 per semester intern scholarship, which can be applied directly toward tuition for the M.A. degree program. Merit-based scholarships are also available.
