Grad. Program: MA in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (Georgetown University)

The Master’s Degree Program at Georgetown University’s Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies (CERES) brings together scholars, practitioners and students working on contemporary and historical issues affecting Eurasia and beyond. Through multidisciplinary coursework on the politics, history, language(s) and culture(s) of the region, the CERES MA program educates professionals prepared to engage with global challenges and supports innovative research on current issues facing the region.

Wayne Vucinich Fellowship 2026

Deadline:  November 15, 2025 

The Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (CREEES) at Stanford University invites applications for the Wayne Vucinich Fellowship. 

This is a three-month residential fellowship to be offered in the period between April-June, 2026. The fellowship is open to scholars in any discipline whose research focuses on historical or contemporary topics in Russia, East Europe, the Caucasus, or Central Asia.  Scholars who have received the PhD within the past five years are eligible to apply. (A PhD in hand is required at the time the residency begins.) Preference will be given to scholars who are residents of countries that fall under the direct purview of the Center: Russia, East Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.

WGCTV Graduate Student Travel Grant for ASEEES 2025

Deadline: October 10, 2025

In 2025, the Working Group on Cinema and Television (WGCTV) is committed to subsidizing graduate students working in film and media studies who are attending the ASEEES convention for the first time or who have no local institutional resources for travel support. We anticipate that we will be able to fund, on a competitive basis, 3 awards of $300 each.

Eligibility

  • MA and PhD students from all backgrounds working in film and media studies at any college or university
  • Applicants must be session participants (panel, roundtable, or lightning round) in the convention program to apply.
  • Recipients of a Graduate Student Travel Grant cannot receive the WGCTV grant for the same convention.

2026 Summer Institute for the Study of East Central and Southeastern Europe

Deadline: December 2, 2025

The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) invites applications for the Summer Institute for the Study of East Central and Southeastern Europe (SISECSE) 2025-26 competition. In partnership with the Centre for Advanced Study Sofia (CAS), ACLS will convene leading scholars from Eastern Europe and North America for a two-week residency in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria from June 3 to June 19, 2026.

SISECSE will provide participating scholars with time and space to dedicate to their own research and writing in a collaborative and interdisciplinary setting. The program covers travel, accommodation, and per diem expenses. Scholars are expected to be in residence and to participate in all planned events for the duration of the institute.

Interdisciplinary Fellowship at The Met for Post-MAs and Above

Deadline: October 17, 2025

The Interdisciplinary Fellowship supports scholars whose projects lie at the intersection of various disciplines and methodologies. It encourages cross-departmental projects that explore connections between various cultures and Met collections, bridging the visual arts and other disciplines in the humanities and sciences.

Interdisciplinary fellows hail from a wide range of fields including anthropology, archaeology, critical theory, education, ethnic studies, film studies, gender studies, history, linguistics, literature, media studies, medicine, musicology, performance, philosophy, political science, psychology, religious studies, and sociology.

Russian for Global Professionals Immersion Program (Honolulu, HI)

Deadline: January 14, 2026

UGA is accepting applications for summer 2026 program “Russian for Global Professionals”. This 8-week hybrid program will start with 2 weeks of virtual immersion and will continue with an intensive 6-week domestic immersion program at the UGA field study site in Honolulu, HI. The program accepts students with Novice High-Intermediate Low proficiency (ILR 0+/1).

Program dates: May 12th – May 22nd online, May 25th – July 2nd in-person (8 weeks total)

  2. Presenting a paper on a panel at the ASEEES Annual Convention.
