Funding: $8,000 Language Fellowships for Summer 2019 Intensive Language Study Abroad Programs (American Councils)

American Councils has Title VIII Language Fellowships available to help students pursue intensive language study in RussiaEurasia, and the Balkans with American Councils this coming summer.

Funded by the U.S. Department of State, Title VIII fellowships are available to students enrolled in or intending to enroll in graduate study in a field relevant to U.S. policy regarding Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Fellowships for the Summer 2019 term are awarded in the amount of $3,000 to $8,000 on the basis of financial need and academic merit and are available for use on any of the following AC Study Abroad programs: 

  • Advanced Russian Language & Area Studies Program (RLASP)
    Offered in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladimir (AY only), and Almaty, RLASP combines intensive language instruction with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including internships and community service, regional field study excursions, meetings with conversation partners, and discussion groups with local students.
  • Eurasian Regional Language Program (ERLP)

Providing immersion in 18 Eurasian languages across 9 countries in the region, ERLP offers highly-individualized instruction, homestays, specially designed cultural programs, and expert logistical support to participants studying the languages of Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Russia, Ukraine, and Moldova.

Combining personalized academic programming in Albanian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, and Serbian with structured overseas immersion, BLI enables participants to make rapid gains in language proficiency and cultural knowledge while living and studying in Southeast Europe.
