The University of Pittsburgh invites applications for the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs position at the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES). This is a full-time, year-round position with the following responsibilities:

• advertising REEES academic credentials and programs at academic fairs, marketplaces for new and prospective students, and additional events throughout the year;

• advising students seeking to complete the requirements for the undergraduate and graduate credentials provided through or supported by the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies;

• hiring and supervising REEES student ambassadors and language tutors;

• creating and/or updating all credential- and advising-related advertising and websites, approved course lists, and resource lists for students;

• running all aspects of the AY and summer FLAS award competitions as well as handling REEES scholarship awards to SLI in consultation with the REEES Associate Director and Assistant Director;

• student recruiting, advising, and alumni communications for Project GO, including assisting accepted Project GO students with the summer guest student enrollment process;

• serving as the faculty advisor to the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and Graduate Organization for the Study of Europe and Central Asia (GOSECA) conferences;

• overseeing the organization of the annual GOSECA conference;

• administering the center’s scholarships, issuing letters, and posting REEES tuition remission funds;

• managing the Center’s student database and serving students at the Pitt Global Hub;

• managing relations with REEES alumni and coordinating annual fundraising efforts for student scholarships in collaboration with UCIS Alumni & Engagement and REEES Directors;

• overseeing the organization and implementation of student co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including the International Career Toolkit Program, related field-trips and events, as well as the hiring and supervision of the Toolkit Coordinator (GSA/TF);

• working with colleagues on the UCIS Academic Affairs and UCIS Engagement committees to coordinate and implement student-facing initiatives, including Global 360 as well as new career-training and experiential learning programs;

• collaborating with academic advisors from the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and the professional schools to promote courses, events, as well as professionalization and scholarship/fellowship opportunities among students as relevant to successful grant applications;

• participating in the assessment of teaching and learning.

The REEES Assistant Director for Academic Affairs deals with confidential information, interacts with all levels of the organization (students, faculty, administrators, staff) and the general public. Occasional weeknight and weekend hours required. This is a full-time position, operating at 37.5 hours per week. The employee will report to the REEES Associate Director.
