Acad. Job: Visiting Asst. Prof. Russian Lit (Iowa)

The Department of Asian and Slavic Languages and Literatures in the Division of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures is searching for a part-time (62.5%) Visiting Assistant Professor in Russian Literature beginning in August 2019. The initial appointment will be for one year, with a possible reappointment, pending College approval and demonstrated excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will teach courses in 19th and 20th century Russian literature, including self-designed courses with a comparative literature focus. The normal teaching load, contingent upon enrollments, is five courses per year (at least a minimum of 15 s.h.). The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty in programmatic activities. Funding: Wisconsin Russia Project Research Fellowship (U Wisconsin Madison)

The Center for Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia (CREECA) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for Wisconsin Russia Project postdoctoral research fellowships (for US and/or Russian social scientists) and pre-doctoral dissertation fellowships (for Russian social scientists), funded with a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Fellows are expected to be in residence in Madison, Wisconsin, and to conduct research about Russia in one or more of the five topic areas: 1) Education, labor markets, and inequality; 2) Law and society; 3) Political economy; 4) Identity, place, and migration; and 5) Demographic change. Fellows will conduct research in consultation with UW-Madison faculty and will join a vibrant community of scholars working on the social science of Russia.

The application deadline for both competitions is March 1, 2019.

Academic Job: Tenure-Track Professor in Humanities (HSE, Moscow)

The Higher School of Economics’ School of Philology in Moscow, Russia, invites applications for a tenure-track full-time position of Assistant / Associate / Full Professor in literary studies and digital humanities.

Part of the Faculty of Humanities, the School offers one bachelors’ and two masters’ programs in Russian and comparative literature. The research focus of the faculty are literary history, poetics, typology and theory of Russian, European and American literatures, comparative studies, translation studies, history and theory of culture, and digital humanities.

They are looking for a colleague with a research interest in one or more of these fields, preferably digital humanities. An experience in joint projects is a plus. The teaching load will include teaching a course in a field of the applicant’s expertise as well as an advanced course in English, German, Italian, or Spanish and a course in literary analysis in the same language (18th-21st centuries).

The deadline for applications is February 15, 2019.
