Call for Applications – International Visiting Research Fellowship Programme in Regensburg for 2023/2024

As part of the project “A small but fertile field: strengthening Southeast European Studies in Regensburg” (seeFField), funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.

The project “A small but fertile field: strengthening Southeast European Studies in Regensburg” (seeFField) was launched in July 2022. One of its aims is to critically examine and integrate forms of knowledge production and knowledge transfer related to South-Eastern Europe in academic as well as non-academic fields. The project collaborates with the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) and other existing and emerging Area Studies initiatives at the University of Regensburg (UR), such as the Department for Interdisciplinary and Multiscalar Area Studies (DIMAS), a cluster of institutions and initiatives that is currently at the leading edge of Area Studies in Germany. It is supported by Volkswagen Foundation as a part of the programme “Global Knowledge – Structural Strengthening of Small Disciplines”.

The Museum of Russian Icons offers a unique opportunity to play an important role in shaping a leading institute for icons and Eastern Christian art in the USA. The Museum is currently in the last phase of a reorientation and rebranding project, and its new plans will be shared with the public in the second half of 2023. The curator will also spearhead the Study Center which will be an essential part of the new Museum.  

The Museum seeks a dynamic and highly motivated individual who is excited by this challenge. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, published scholar passionately interested in the arts of the Eastern Christian world, and deeply committed to the Museum’s mission. The ideal candidate should be fully able to employ the latest technologies to connect to global audiences. The candidate reports to and works closely with the Executive Director.

Job: YES Abroad Local Coordinator (Sarajevo)

POSITION SUMMARY

The YES Abroad Local Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the Kennedy-Lugar YES Abroad program in Sarajevo. The position reports to the Country Representative in Sarajevo and works in conjunction with Washington-based program managers and colleagues in Central and Southeast Europe.  This is a part-time position: 20hrs/week with a flexible schedule, some evenings and weekends required. The position starts in August 2023 and is a limited, one-year term with a possibility of extension.

Program Officer, Regional Flagship Languages Initiative Programs 2023 (American Councils)

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY:

Based in Washington DC, the Program Officer will be responsible for the administration of Regional Flagship Language Initiative Program (s) and for arranging assessments of participants on the Flagship programs.  

The Program Officer will work closely with a dedicated team of Flagship staff members and report to a Program Manager. The PO  will communicate frequently with students. The PO will collaborate routinely with overseas staff and partners. Currently,  American Councils runs RFLI programs in Senegal (French), Tanzania (Swahili), Azerbaijan (Turkish), India (Hindi, Urdu) and Indonesia and anticipates starting programs in Thailand and Vietnam  in fall 2023.  Proficiency in Thai, Vietnamese or Turkish would be very helpful in this position.

Research Officer (PeaceRep Ukraine Programme)

PeaceRep’s Ukraine programme was established on the 1st October 2022. It seeks to provide data, analysis and scholarship on the war against Ukraine, as well its regional and global implications, that contributes to the protection of Ukraine’s democratic institutions, rule of law system and territorial integrity. The programme forms part of the work of PeaceRep (the Peace and Conflict Resolution Evidence Platform) consortium, an international research project rethinking peace and transition processes in light of changing conflict dynamics led by the University of Edinburgh Law School. PeaceRep’s Ukraine programme is led by the LSE and is developing a Ukraine-centred regional network offering cutting edge analysis on the war across 10 interdisciplinary projects and 6 other academic institutions.
