The Global Disinformation Lab (GDIL) is actively recruiting undergraduate and graduate researchers for all 8 of its student-driven research projects.
This is a reminder that the American Councils Title VIII Research Scholar and Title VIII Combined Research & Language Training Programs application deadline is October 1, 2022.
Research can be conducted in the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan
Designed to expand the accessibility of overseas research while increasing U.S. knowledge and expertise on Eastern Europe and Eurasia, the programs support fellows seeking to complete overseas, policy-relevant research. Fellowships last three to nine consecutive months and include round-trip international travel; housing and living stipends; visa support; overseas health, accident, and evacuation insurance; archive access; and logistical support. Following the completion of the research term, fellows will return to the U.S. and share their findings through presentations, articles, and lectures in order to strengthen and broaden current scholarship on the region.

Through the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) the Center for Jewish History (the Center) invites applications for an NEH Scholar in Residence that will support original research conducted at the Center. Applications are welcome from scholars working in a broad range of fields within the humanities and social sciences. The application deadline is December 15, 2022 for a residency from July 2023 through June 2024.
Continue reading “National Endowment for the Humanities Scholar in Residence (Center for Jewish History)”As part of the new project “Russian Studies at the Margins: Migration in the Post-Soviet Borderlands,” Arizona State University’s Melikian Center for Russian, Eurasian and East European Studies invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship with an anticipated start date of October 3, 2022 through June 30, 2023. The application deadline is September 25.
The fellowship is open to early-career scholars who received their terminal degree between May 2017 and July 2022, whose work combines regional focus with global relevance. The fellow’s primary responsibility will be to lead research, writing and testing of curricular materials for high school and community college students on migration and borderland communities in the former Soviet Union (case studies focus on Ukraine/Russia, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus). Post-doctoral appointments at ASU do not offer tenure. The pro-rated salary for the 7.5-month position is set at $41,667.

The school will take place in Como (Italy) on January 23-27 2023 and is the result of cooperation between the University of Insubria (https://www.uninsubria.eu/) and the University of New Europe (https://neweurope.university/). It is going to cover both classic approaches to oral history and memory research in the context of armed conflicts and more innovative digital-oriented techniques, including the ones dealing with the machine learning and algorithm audits and their potential uses in the field. This one-day workshop will bring together politically engaged researchers in environmental studies and politics (political ecology, sustainability studies, climate (impact) sciences etc.) who aim at societal impact and work in/on countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia affected by the Russian war and further recent political ruptures. It aims at sharing and developing resources and strategies to continue and adapt our work under challenging new political circumstances.

SRAS is expanding its popular Online Research Internships to accommodate late summer applicants. Please forward this to any students, graduates, or others who might be interested in building their resumes this summer!
Interns who complete the program receive scholarships for study abroad or online study with SRAS.
These will be flexible – based on student interests and student schedules – and allow participants to build up their portfolio of published works via the SRAS Family of Sites.
