Prof. Devt: ACFL Summer Institute (UW Madison)

The University of Wisconsin-Madison has announced a 2019 ACFL Proficiency and Performance Summer Institute on their campus. The institute will include a dedicated 4-day ACTFL OPI Assessment Workshop in Russian.

The dates of the OPI-Russian workshop are June 3-6.

Participants in the workshop will be introduced to the ACTFL rating scale, the structure of the OPI, and techniques for administering and rating the OPI. Participants will observe and conduct practice interviews across all proficiency levels, Novice through Superior. Participation in this workshop is the first step toward becoming an ACTFL-certified OPI Tester with Full Certification. Prof. Devt: STARTALK Summer Program on Pedagogy (Middlebury)

The STARTALK Institute at Middlebury is intended for current and prospective teachers of Russian. The principles of second language acquisition and proficiency-based instruction will serve as the foundation for this intensive pedagogy program.

The Institute is a fantastic place for teachers of Russian – novice and experiences alike – to explore the principles of second language acquisition and proficiency-based instruction amidst the blue mountains of Vermont. It includes 10 days of online classes and a residential session on campus, both required.
