Delete a Page or Post

Last Updated April 2026

Consider carefully when removing content from your website:

  • Removing the content may affect Inbound links & Search indexing.
  • Compliance with Records Retention.

Deleting a Page or Post is a 2 step process:

  1. Decide how to remove the Page or Post
  2. Remove it from the menu

Decide how to remove the Page or Post

If you move a Page of Post to the Trash in WordPress it will be available for 30 days and then deleted permanently. In the Page Settings (right-hand column) click the Move to Trash button. You can see items in the Trash by going to Pages > All Pages > Trash.

If you need to keep a record of a page in order to comply with Records Retention, you should edit it and save it as a Draft. Click on the Status in the Page Settings, select Draft and save the page.

Remove it from the menu

If the Page or Post is in the navigation menu for the site, you must delete it from the menu. To make sure there are no broken links as a result, the Web team can run a broken links report for you.
