Navigation & Links

Last Updated March 2026

Clicking links is the main interaction visitors have with websites. Be sure to follow linking best practices and make sure your links have good context and appearance.

If you need to you can customize the URL Web Address and, on rare occasions, you may need to add non-visible link context.

Keep reading to learn how to add links in the content and sidebar areas, including email addresses.

If you have created a new page and need to add it to the menu, or change or delete any items in the menu, please contact the web team or visit us at our Open Office Hours. Editing Menus is restricted to the Administrator role.

Create links in the content area

Select the text you wish to make a link then click the link iconIcon of a chain link. (You can also unlink text that you’ve selected by clicking the unlink icon Unlink Icon). In the pop-up window, you can enter a URL address in the link field or choose from a list of pages that you’ve already created on your website.

Clickable Email Address

Replace the “https://” in the URL field with mailto:theaddress@example.com where “theaddress@example.com” is the desired email address.
