2D

GDAD Capstone Course

The 2D Capstone Course in the GDAD Program at The University of Texas at Austin occurs each fall and challenges students to utilize all their new skills to create a final project. Undergraduates from the Departments of Arts and Entertainment Technologies, Computer Science, and Radio-Television-Film were assigned to one of five teams, and each team developed their own unique 2D video game.

Below are the results of the Capstone.


 

Zombeats
Brain Dead Studios

Zombeats is a high-octane rhythm game set in the apocalypse. Shoot zombies to the beat as they swarm from all directions, while managing limited ammo reserves. Unlock original songs as you progress through each character’s story, import your own levels with the custom level editor, chase high scores on the global leaderboard, and customize your experience with difficulty modifiers!

Expected ESRB: Rated T for Teen

Hacker’s Labyrinth

Hacker’s Labyrinth is a unique and immersive 2D asymmetrical co-op game that blends traditional gaming with augmented reality. In this cooperative experience, two players take on distinct roles – one as the hacker, seated at a laptop, and the other as the spy, equipped with an augmented reality headset. The two players must communicate to infiltrate a missile launch facility and stop an attack.

Oh no! The evil fish company has started melting Earth’s ice caps with a space laser! Step into the shoes of a penguin, fight your way through the chaos of a space station full of evil fishes, and save your homeland from their evil schemes!

Feral Frenzy Fighters
Paw Patrol

Feral Frenzy Fighters is a cute yet GORY 2D platformer-fighting game. Play against another player as an agile cat, a tactical fish, or an enduring turtle. Battle in one of three stages themed around a certain character, and try to settle your grievances the only way you know how…through DEATH.
