Spring 2023

3D Capstone Course

The 3D Capstone course in the GDAD Program at The University of Texas at Austin occurs each spring and challenges students to utilize all their new skills to create a final project. Undergraduates from the Departments of Arts and Entertainment Technologies, Computer Science, and Radio-Television Film were assigned to one of four teams, each of which developed their own unique 3D video game.

Below are the results of the capstone.


Sandborne

Team Golem

Play as a small golem waking up in a dried oasis amongst the desert. Explore your home, now a collapsed civilization overrun by twisted creations. Use your multi-use grapple arm to uncover the story behind the collapse, deactivate the rogue golems, and find your creator.

Genre: Action-Adventure
Platforms: Mac, Windows and Web
Expected ESRB: Everyone 10+

Lab Echo

Echo Interactive

Traverse the abandoned Lab Echo and uncover the fates of the crew members. Discover clues by interacting with evidence and use them to fill in the missing details of each scientists’ demise.

Heartstrung

Berry Buds Studio

The evil Nekomancer has stolen the hearts of every cat in the land… except yours. Your heart was too heavy to be taken, but now, it’s outside your body and very talkative. Traverse dangerous lands, swing your heart around, and save Catkind!

Fululu

Breadrollz Games

In Fululu, a third-person bullet hell from Breadrollz Games, you are a Federal Exorcist assigned to investigate and clear a spirit infestation. Switch between exploring rich Tao-Noir environments and fighting various unique ghosts as you attempt to stop the cause of the infestation. Use your paper talismans to fight your way through waves of enemies, trapping spirits in your gourd to harness their power and channel supernatural abilities.
