Listing Blocks

Last Updated April 2025

There are currently 3 Content Types on our sites that generate Content Blocks, called a “Listing Block” in Layout Builder pages.

  • News listing – create a block of news items.
  • Event listing – create a block of event items.
  • Profile listing – create a block of profiles items.

These Listing Blocks add a subset of the items to any “Layout Builder” content type, such as a “Flex Page.” For example, on a degree program page you may want to display relevant program faculty or alumni news stories.

Each listing block has Header and Footer fields for adding text above and below the list and many of the same block configurations as other Content Block types. However, there are not design Variations.

On this page:

  • Curate the Listing Block with Categories
  • Display Options
    • News and Events
    • Profiles

Curate the Listing Block with Categories

In the configurations for each block content creators can select Terms to curate the items displayed. Example:

Display Options

News and Events

You’re able to display up to 4 items per row or you can choose not to set a limit and items will adjust to fit the available space. There is also an option to display a link back to the main news/events page.

Checkboxes allow you to choose what information is displayed: summaries, thumbnails, publication dates, event details and buttons.

The “Featured” attribute allows you to create targeted listings (for example, on a site’s homepage).

To use this, you’ll need to make sure the Featured box is checked on the articles you want to display: Featured Checkbox

Profiles

You have the option to either display profiles associated with specific tags or pick specific profiles for a list.
