Clone Last Updated May 2025 Clone is a tab at the top of existing pages, when you’re logged in. It allows you to make a copy of the current page. Why Make a Clone? Cloning is helpful to replicate content to create different but similar pages. You might create a template that you never Publish, that you clone over and over to help you create consistent content. Reusable Blocks can also be helpful for maintaining consistency. It may be helpful to stage some major edits, saving the Clone in a Draft state. But if you want to switch a “live” page to a cloned page, take care to maintain the Universal Resource Locator (URL) path. Issues could arise if you change the path or if you try to publish two pages with the same URL. You will have to delete the original page or change its URL before replacing it with the clone using the same URL. A better option, might be to use the Test site. But, remember to let us know so we do not synch the Test site and lose your edits. Cloning is also helpful when you need to unpublish/delete/removing content and need to keeping a record for yourself or to comply with records retention policies. Remember, also that you can always make edits to “live” content and save them as Drafts until you are ready to Publish.
