Categories, Taxonomy and Terms Last Updated February 2026 Categories contain Taxonomy Terms. Categories are sometimes called Taxonomy. Some Content Types include the terms so content creators can segment, categorize and group like pieces of content. You can find your website’s categories on your website’s Dashboard. Terms are primarily important on: Landing Pages, Listing Blocks and they are also used by code scripts and feeds used to automate content sharing, such as sharing Events. Creating, Editing and Deleting Terms Content creators with the Administrator user role have some capabilities to manage Terms. They can: Edit the verbiage used for any Term’s name. (i.e If a program name is used for a Term but the program name changes, simply edit the Term and change the name.) Unpublish a term. Unpublishing is usually a safe way to remove the term from the interface so visitors no longer see it in exposed filters on Landing pages and it can no longer be used to segment Listing blocks. Review all associated pages carefully. If you’ve made a mistake you can simply re-publish. Add terms, however if you want the term to display in an exposed filter on a Landing page that has “fixed” filters, you will need assistance from the Web team. Deleting Terms is possible but requires assistance from the Web team. The Term must be removed from every piece of content it’s associated with. If you have Category with too many unpublished terms please bring it to our attention and we’ll help get it cleaned up. Always check that the edits you make have the desired result on the relevant Landing pages. A link to manage Category Terms, and details about how the category is used on your site, can be found on the Dashboard. If you need help, don’t hesitate to contact the Web team.
