Keep Austin Beautiful’s programming is impressive. We are seeking an intern with a knack for writing to help us get the word out on just how impressive our programming is. The communications internship entails updating Keep Austin Beautiful’s social media sites and web pages, creating, writing and formatting press releases and blogs, and submitting grant applications.

Development/Grants Intern
Keep Austin Beautiful is seeking an intern to assist with grants and fundraising opportunities. The internship entails researching grant opportunities, researching demographics and local statistics for use in grants, tracking grants in an online database, and submitting grants from existing boiler plates. Grant assistance provides a unique opportunity to gain insight of an organizations development and operational processes including donor cultivation, budgets, and program alignment. The ideal intern will possess an attention to detail and above average writing skills.
Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Minimum commitment of 8 hours a week.

Community Programs Intern
Keep Austin Beautiful offers extensive programming to support community members making improvements to our local environment and public spaces. We are currently seeking a highly organized, multi-talented, and dependable intern to support our community programs team this fall. This intership will provide diverse experience both in a professional office setting as well as in the field. Position will assist with program coordination, volunteer support, and administrative duties.
Qualifications
- Strong communications skills
- Have interest or experience in environmental education, native plants, invasive species and/or riparian management
- Enjoy working with volunteers
- Candidates should be comfortable working both in the office and outdoors. Must be available some weekends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Events Intern
Keep Austin Beautiful’s “Green” Spring Events Interns will help plan and coordinate Clean Sweep, our signature cleanup in April. More than 4,000 volunteers participate in this event so we need a detail oriented volunteer with flare, focus, and lots of creativity.
Qualifications
If you have a keen eye for detail, thrive on juggling multiple deadlines, love to plan, plan, plan and can take an idea and run with it, this might be the perfect internship for you! Please keep in mind that this internship will require you to be highly organized, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and have strong communication skills.

Graphics Design Intern
Keep Austin Beautiful is seeking a Graphic Illustrator/Design Intern to assist with our communications and brand development. The intern will work on producing high-quality print and electronic marketing materials to reflect the distinct image of Keep Austin Beautiful. Materials include a program logo, activity booklets with illustrations needed, educational banners, and program fliers. The ideal candidate will be an advertising student with a current graphic design portfolio that they would like to develop further. The intern will have the opportunity to develop as a designer by having guidance and direct feedback from Keep Austin Beautiful staff on all projects.
Qualifications
The intern should be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.

Environmental Education Intern
Keep Austin Beautiful’s education programming is growing faster than we can keep up! We are seeking an intern to assist us with our education programming in the following areas:
- Patch Pals Coordination – answering Patch Pals inquiries; and coordinating and tracking Activity Kit checkout.
- Outreach – update existing contacts and consolidate contacts into Keep Austin Beautiful’s database system, along with researching new venues for promoting Keep Austin Beautiful education programs to schools and youth groups.
- Activity Kit Development – inventorying, restocking, and labeling supplies as well as researching and developing new activity kits and updating existing activities.
- Academic Connection – draw correlations of Keep Austin Beautiful activities to state academic standards and determining grade level appropriateness of activities.
Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Minimum commitment of 8 hours a week.
