Volunteer Intake Intern
The Texas Civil Rights Project regularly seeks volunteers to assist in our client intake process. Volunteers should be able available 10 hours per week. Interns must be available Thursday afternoons between 12:00pm– 5:00pm and willing to make at least a semester long commitment. Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with attorneys in evaluating potential cases. Responsibilities for this internship include fielding calls from the public who have experienced civil rights violations, evaluating potential cases, following up with potential clients, reviewing documents, preparing open records requests, and other tasks as needed. We get a large volume of calls which cover a wide range of topics. This position is ideal for undergraduates or recent graduates seeking exposure to the practice of law and interested in protecting human rights. Spanish proficiency is a plus but not necessary. This internship is available during the fall, winter, and spring.

Volunteer Prison Litigation Intern
The Texas Civil Rights Project regularly seeks volunteers to assist in litigation representing indigent inmates whose civil rights have been violated. Volunteers should be able to work 10-15 hours a week and able to make a semester long commitment. Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with attorneys in evaluating potential cases. Responsibilities include screening inmate mail, corresponding with inmates, preparing open records requests, reviewing discovery documents (such as medical records, grievances, etc.), and other tasks as needed. This position is ideal for undergraduates or recent graduates seeking exposure to the practice of law and interested in protecting human rights. This internship is available year-round.

Volunteer Development Internship
The Texas Civil Rights Project regularly seeks volunteers to assist with nonprofit development work. Development intern duties include clerical work, donor solicitation and management, grant research and writing, event planning, and answering phones. Interns should be available to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per week for at least one semester.
