Internships at Interfaith Action of Central Texas

Interfaith Action of Central Texas Internships
Summer Refugee Youth Program: The iACT Summer Refugee Youth Program program runs from mid-June until the very beginning of August. Our camp is designed to help refugee children transition into their new life and education in the US. Most of our students speak no English and the level of formal education they have had before they reach us varies. Our goal is to teach children in the program the cultural, academic, and social skills they will need when they attend school (often for the very first time) in the Fall.

All of the internships opportunities listed below are part of the summer program, and run for about 7 weeks from mid-June until the beginning of August. Interns will need to be at our downtown locations (Central Presbyterian Church) from about 8:30am-12:00pm Monday-Thursday while the program is running. The following internship roles are available:
  • Registration and Attendance
  • Organization and Logistics
  • Volunteer and Tech Support
  • Documenting and Planning
  • Student Progress Monitoring
If interested in applying to a position, please contact Maggie Wagner at mwagner@interfaithtexas.org

Colorado River Alliance Internships- Apply ASAP If Interested!

We are actively recruiting Environmental Education Interns for the summer and fall 2018 semesters.

Special Note:  We have a strong need for bi-lingual (English-Spanish) speakers!  Fall 2018 Interns will all be bilingual.

Internships with the Colorado River Alliance are powerful professional development experiences. Interns commit an average of 15 hours per week, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. M-F.  They spend 10 hours teaching in our award-winning environmental education programs for elementary schoolchildren and middle schoolchildren. Interns spend an additional 5 hours on Special Projects related to the Alliance’s educational mission and Intern interests.  Much of our environmental education programming and Special Projects take place outdoors.

Alliance Interns receive comprehensive environmental educator training, professional development consultations with our Staff, and they are also provided networking and resume building opportunities.  Our internships are suitable for students with a wide range of backgrounds – aspiring scientists, educators, business professionals, athletes, and healthcare workers have all succeeded with us; the key to their success is being motivated, organized, and passionate.

Alliance Program Coordinator Daniela Pennycook gives a glimpse into what it is like to intern with us:

“Alliance Interns can expect an intensely positive experience with us; they teach inside programs that make tangible, measurable impacts to students’ environmental science knowledge.  We train Interns personally, and work hard alongside them inside classrooms and outdoor spaces.  After work is done, we thank them with a home-cooked meal surrounded by our organization’s leaders and Board Members, and support them in finding and pursuing the next steps of their professional lives.”

Students interested in applying for a fall 2018 internship should apply online as soon as possible.  Those with questions can email Program Director Geoff Hensgen at: geoff@coloradoriver.org.
