City Flyer (1)[2].jpg

About the Anti-Hunger and Opportunity Corps’ Summer Associate program:

The Anti-Hunger and Opportunity Corps (AHOC) is an AmeriCorps VISTA project sponsored by Hunger Free America and funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Walmart Foundation and the Pepsico Foundation. This national project operates two programs, one for a full-year and the other for just the summer, called the Summer Associate program. Both the full-year and Summer Associates work in both rural and urban areas across the country as part of a public-private partnership to improve access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamps), the Summer Food Service Program, and other anti-hunger programs for Americans in need.

Position Description:

Baylor University’s Texas Hunger Initiative in partnership with Hunger Free America is seeking Summer Associate members to assist in the administration, implementation, access, and quality of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

Time Commitment:

This is a short-term, 8 week, full-time position beginning June 6, 2016 and ending July 31, 2016. You are expected to be available for the needs of your community and project at all times, including days, nights and weekends. Because AmeriCorps VISTA service requires a full immersion in the project and community, full-time employment with other entities is strictly prohibited. Summer Associates may be able to have a part-time job outside of VISTA service, however, they will discuss this with their supervisor prior to starting their position. Also, AmeriCorps VISTA and Summer Associates must adhere to some restrictions on political and religious activities. For more information, please review the AmeriCorps VISTA Terms and Conditions information available here – http://bit.ly/1dAs2FM.

Housing:

You are responsible for finding your own housing. No housing allowance will be provided.

Program Benefits:

  • $447.85 Living allowance, paid biweekly
  • Segal Education Award (~$1,222.22) or end-of-service stipend (either $230 or $280, depending on program length)
  • Paid holidays
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector
  • A network of over 180,000 AmeriCorps VISTA members and alums

How to Apply:

Please go to http://www.1.usa.gov/1UfRZVR and complete the program application.
