Fall Internships with Teysha Social Enterprises

Teysha is an international social-enterprise based in Austin and working with artisans and communities in Panama, Colombia, and Guatemala. We are not a shoe company, we are here to change the world through economic empowerment and cultural celebration, using shoes as a medium for change. Founded by Austinites and one UT alum, we are looking to bring several passionate and creative world changers for the Fall 2013 semester.  An internship with Teysha is the perfect way to gain first-hand experience in both the start-up and international development field, and find and follow your passions.

Below are the positions we are looking to fill.

Story Telling Intern – specialized in digital arts and media. Focusing on the “Why,” help create videos, write stories, blog, and contribute graphic design skills that will share Teysha’s stories about its work and impact, and communicate with different audiences. Necessary technical skills include simple video editing experience such as iMovie, simple graphic design skills, creativity, and a passion for sharing stories.

Partnership Intern – research and draft grants to help Teysha’s partner communities. Necessary technical skills include an interest in the non-profit/social entrepreneurship world, the ability to write clearly and passionately, organized research skills, and familiarity with grant writing.

Social Entrepreneurship Catalyst – work with ally program to find social entrepreneurship students across the country, plan events, and find partners. Empowering people across the country to join Teysha’s mission. Candidates must be self- motivated, outgoing, and able to create and execute plans.

Fall Internships at Austin Children’s Museum

Austin Children’s Museum creates innovative learning experiences for children and families that equip and inspire the next generation of creative problem solvers. They are currently recruiting Fall 2013 Museum Education Interns.

Job Description:

The intern will assist with a variety of Education Department tasks during a timeframe that coincides with the Museum’s transition from its current site downtown to a new building in the Mueller development. The intern’s primary functions will include assisting with the implementation of public programs allowing for ACM to continue offering/implementing learning experiences, programs and activities, including on-site and off-site experiences and outreach programs. The internship will continue during the time when both buildings will be closed to the public. Secondary tasks include preparing programs for the new facility at Mueller, scheduling and implementing pilot programs with test audiences in the new space and assisting with grand opening events.

This internship will provide the student with practical experience teaching and developing curriculum in both the museum and outreach settings. He/she will work with a well-respected educational institution during a very exciting time of growth and change.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist implementing educational programs for a variety of audiences. Programs include early learners, community outreach and new public programs during pilot phases.
  • Maintain and organize educational materials
  • Support museum and youth volunteers assisting with programs
  • Assist with the evaluation of programs and exhibits. This includes collecting data through observation, research and survey.
  • Attend and assist with applicable museum special events
  • Assist with promotion of applicable programs
Qualifications:
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for the mission of Austin Children’s Museum
  • Experience working directly with young children and the adults in their lives
  • Confidence and competence working with all children and families of all race, gender and ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Confidence in working independently as well as with a team
  • Competency in multitasking and time management
  • Positive attitude and lots of energy
  • Must be available occasional evenings and weekends
  • Reliable transportation with ability to carry supply bins and materials (up to 20 pounds)
Job Type: Unpaid Internship
3-4 positions available (at least one placement must be available for the following times: Mondays 9am to noon, Wednesday 4pm-8pm, Saturdays-all day, Sunday-all day. Some evenings as needed.
Hours per week: 10-20
Internship length: August – December

Fall Paid Internships at Enviromedia – 8/9 Deadline

Internships are available at EnviroMedia Social Marketing for passionate, dependable students.

Interns at EnviroMedia gain hands-on experience and the opportunity to interact in all facets of the business. Working under the guidance of experienced professionals you will learn the skills needed to excel in an agency environment. Interested students should have an eager desire to learn and demonstrate strong organizational and writing skills.

The first day of internships for the fall 2013 semester is on August 28, and the last day of the internships is on December 6. There is a mandatory orientation on Tuesday, August 27, before the first day of class.
