The Capital Area Food Bank of Texas (CAFB) Nutrition Education Intern supports the CHOICES Nutrition Education Program in their effort to provide nutrition education to the community. This person will gain valuable experience in community nutrition and work with a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionists.
Primary Internship Responsibilities:
- Serve as an assistant for CHOICES Program Nutrition Education classes (children, adults, and/or senior classes).
- Contact CAFB Partner Agencies to provide them information on the CHOICES Program via phone and email.
- Help to market the CHOICES Program by sending brochures and/or marketing materials to Partner Agencies.
- Assist Registered Dietitian with Kids Cafe menu analysis using Food Processor software.
- Assist Registered Dietitian in analyzing the nutrition content of CAFB inventory.
- Assist dietitian and nutritionists with preparing for classes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Education Manager.
Internship Qualifications:
- Undergraduate student considering a career in nutrition, community nutrition, and/or dietetics.
- Must have a general interest in nutrition, science, food, cooking, etc.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse range of people.
