Position: Intern, Disaster Fundraising & In-Kind Donations
Job Description:
The Disaster Fundraising and In-Kind Donations teams manage the fundraising campaigns for large-scale disasters domestically and internationally, as well as donations of goods and services for disaster and non-disaster business units at the American Red Cross.
We serve as the Development liaisons for Disaster Services and International Services here at NHQ, but we also work closely with chapters and fundraising staff from across the country.
We need an intern to help us prepare for future disasters by creating materials and resources to help fundraise in case of a disaster. In the chance that there is a large-scale disaster that occurs during the summer (most likely a hurricane or wildfire), we will need the intern to assist with the episodic needs of the disaster, such as:
- Serving as our representative on the conference calls with the on-ground Disaster Relief Operations
- Help put together the twice-daily disaster updates to the fundraisers across the country
- Helping prioritize and coordinate solicitation of donated products
- Help put together the daily report to go to ARC leadership
The intern will also be expected to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Term: 30 to 40 hours per week during Summer 2013. Minimum 6 week commitment. This is an unpaid position.
Skills/Areas of Study:
- Business, Communications, Logistics, Non-Profit Management, Social Studies, Human Services, or related field. Strong proven writing, editing and research skills required.
- Microsoft Office Suite; In-Design preferred but not required
- Undergraduate- junior or senior preferred but not required
- English speaking/reading/writing skills required.
