Waste Management-Sustainability Services Summer Intern

Job Summary
Interacts with and conducts various duties and responsibilities within the Waste Management Sustainability Services Consulting Group in order to develop new skills and learn new areas of the business. Interns gain practical experience assisting with the research, design and implementation of customer-driven sustainability consulting initiatives and other areas relevant to their field of study, prior to college graduation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Uses problem solving skills to identify challenges and determine opportunities for improvement.
  • Conducts analysis as directed, and prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analysis.
  • Synthesizes findings and draws conclusions from analyses and makes oral/written recommendations to supervisor and/or manager.
  • Executes tasks directly related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
  • Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory duties.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

Required: Interns must have a High school diploma or G.E.D., and be pursuing a Bachelor?s degree in a field of study relevant to the internship.
GPA Requirement: 3.30
Completed Course Work Hours: 60

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other RequirementsNone required.C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities RequiredMust demonstrate working knowledge of core concepts of environmental sustainability. Applicants with sustainability-related coursework, project work or extracurricular activities are preferred.

Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice Summer Internships: Deadline April 5th

The Bernard and Audre Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice at the University of Texas School of Law offers Fall, Spring, and Summer internships to undergraduates who are interested in working in the field of human rights. Interns are chosen based on their academic credentials and background and interest in community outreach and human rights.

Undergraduate interns bring excitement and expanded capabilities to the Rapoport Center. The interns offer invaluable support to many Center programs and also initiate new projects, such as identifying courses in human rights across campus, interviewing the Center’s faculty affiliates so as to make the Center more attentive to their interests and work, and expanding outreach to undergraduate and graduate students across campus through the Human Rights Student Advisory Council. The interns also work with the Center faculty, staff, and human rights scholars on conference planning, alumni outreach, and coverage of the Center’s Human Rights Speaker Series and other sponsored events.

“I have been thrilled by the work and commitment of the undergraduate interns,” said Professor Karen Engle, the Center’s Co-Director. “We are honored that these talented and active students have chosen to make human rights work such a priority in their lives.” Former Associate Director, Ariel Dulitzky adds, “We are very grateful to have the opportunity to work with these brilliant, committed and responsible undergraduate interns. We hope that through the internship they will gain valuable experience regarding the practice and theory of human rights.”

About the Internship

Interns support various initiatives at the Rapoport Center. This internship is ideal for students who are interested in:

  • Working on human rights research and advocacy projects
  • Learning how an academic center functions
  • Engaging in human rights scholarship
  • Gaining practical experience
  • Collaborating with faculty, staff, and students

This is an unpaid internship. Selected interns should be available at least 10 hours per week during the semester.

Summer & Fall Internships with Greenlights for Nonprofit Success: Deadline March 30th

Greenlights for Nonprofit Success strengthens Central Texas nonprofits through consulting, education, networking, and resources. They are currently hiring summer and fall interns. This is a great hands-on experience for students wishing to learn about the nonprofit sector.

Internships: Project-based internships are available in the following Greenlights departments: Consulting, Development and Membership, Marketing and Communications, and Education, although each department does not necessarily host an intern each semester. Greenlights will work with your skills and interests to develop an individual internship plan.

Joining our team as an intern requires a commitment of 12-20 hours per week, and the intern must be available at least three days per week with a regular schedule. Greenlights’ internships are unpaid, however, we are happy to work with you if you would like to receive course credit.
