Research Assistant Wanted!
I am a doctoral student interested in a possible link between classroom physical activity and classroom climate, which is loosely defined as the level of positivity or negativity within the learning environment. During the remainder of the Fall 2013 semester, we will conduct five to ten ten-minute observations in classrooms in the Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD). These short sessions will serve as an introduction to the measurement tool. The official data collection period will occur in the Spring of 2014 at a single location in RRISD. We will gather data on two mornings per week for a period of six to eight weeks using accelerometers and our two assessment tools, which will assess classroom climate and individual time on task.
Responsibilities:
· Attend one training session to learn how to conduct a time on task assessment
· Conduct time on task assessments during data collection – at data collection site
· Assist with accelerometer distribution and collection – at data collection site
· Assist with “flipping” accelerometers – on UT campus
Requirements:
· Must be able to provide own transportation to and from RRISD data collection sites
· Must be available for very short visits to 2-3 schools prior to December 2013
· Must be available two mornings per week for data collection period in Spring of 2014; probably Mondays and Wednesdays
· Must pass CITI Human Subjects training
· Must have active UT EID
Qualifications:
· Responsible, conscientious, personable, and organized
· Preference given to an individual with classroom experience
· Research interest in physical activity and/or education is desirable
