Austin Habitat for Humanity is currently seeking a Spring 2014 Grants Intern.
Job Description:
This position will assist the Grants Manager in all aspects of securing grant funding to support the programs of the organization (Affordable Homeownership, Home Repair, Housing Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention, and general operating support).
The intern selected will have the opportunity to gain experience in all of the following essential skills:
· Research potential funding opportunities, including corporate, government, and foundation sources
· Collect and analyze data for grant applications, including demographics and housing trends
· Prepare information for grant applications
· Develop case statements to aid in grant submissions
· Review grant requirements to ensure compliance
· Maintain grants filing and document retention system
· Track grant proposals and next steps
· Prepare grant status reports for internal use
· Prepare draw requests as needed
· Prepare grant reports for funders
· Prepare for grant audits, if necessary
· Maintain accurate grant-related information in donor database, grant calendar, and report calendar
· Other duties as assigned
Education & Skills Required:
· Some college experience required
· Experience in grant writing preferred
· Experience and/or interest in non-profits or affordable housing a plus
· Strong research and writing skills required
· Strong organizational skills required
A time commitment of about 8-10 hours per week for at least 3 months is expected.
