Cine Las Americas seeks Spring 2014 Communications Intern.

About Cine Las Americas
Cine Las Americas is a non-profit organization dedicated to the exhibition and promotion of Latino, Iberoamerican and American indigenous film in Austin, Texas. The 17th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival will take place April 22-27, 2014.

Communications Intern Job description
Cine Las Americas seeks a part-time Communications Intern. This person will be responsible for assisting in the effective communication strategy of the organization’s programs, including the annual film festival, and year-round programs and initiatives to the general public, members, and the media.

Responsibilities include
• Collaborate in generating online content (website, Constant Contact e-newsletter, social media) that engages audiences and leads to measurable results.
• Identify potential outreach groups and audiences. Maintain an outreach database to track communication.
• Assist in the development, production, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic material, including but not limited to year-round program printed schedule, e-newsletters, fliers, posters, post-cards, printed and electronic ads.
• Copy editing promotional communications, including but not limited to year-round program materials, promotional materials, letters, press releases, reports, proposals, etc.
• Collaborate in webpage maintenance, and ensure that new and consistent information is posted regularly across platforms, including but not limited to article links, stories, and events.
• Track and measure the level of engagement within networks over time.
• Submit event listings for community calendars and event publications.

Job qualifications
Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial with a strong desire to learn. Highly collaborative style. Willingness to take initiative and experience the leadership role of a Communications Intern within a nonprofit entity. Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills, bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. Ability to transform content into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels. High energy and maturity. Skills in working with Mac based IT systems, GoogleDrive and Microsoft Office. Additional experience in FilemakerPro, Adobe Creative Suite and Joomla is a plus.

Availability
Applicants must be available for 10 to 15 hours per week, which includes time in the office and on location at special events. Applicants must be willing to work on a regular schedule during the week, and then after hours and on weekends as needed to assist with special events. Must be available additional hours from April 1 to 27, including evenings and weekend days.

Term of Internship
January 15, 2013, through May 15 2014. This is a non-paid, part-time, internship position. University or College Internship Credit may be earned with appropriate oversight and in accordance with the institution’s degree plans.

Cine Las Americas Seeks Film Festival Intern – Apply by 1/3/14

Cine Las Americas is seeking a Spring 2014 Film Festival Intern.

Job Description
As a Film Festival Intern you will gain experience in the day-to-day management of an international film festival and non-profit organization. This job consists of providing general support to the film festival staff in managing festival operations before, during and after the festival. Based on the intern’s skills and special interests, you will assist with a variety of tasks, ranging from general office operations to event production, outreach, hospitality, special events, volunteer coordination, publishing, programming and film exhibition. Film festival staff members often have the roles of wearing multiple hats in their job. As Film Festival Intern you will get a taste of the various roles and responsibilities required to prepare for and execute a film festival.

Qualifications
Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
An interest in developing a career path in the international film industry.
Positive attitude, good team member and quick learner.
Must be proactive and have excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
Able to keep calm under pressure and adapt to changes quickly.
Proficient in Mac-based Microsoft Office, Gmail and Google Drive.
Spanish/Portuguese fluency a plus but not required.
Knowledge of basic film festival and movie theater protocol a plus.
Willingness to run errands relating to the production of the festival.
Knowledge of digital photography, video, and/or web publishing is a big plus.

Availability
Applicants must be available for 10-15 hours per week in the office, and will also work some from home as required.
Available on evenings and weekends to work year-round screenings before the festival to gain event production experience.
Must be available additional hours from April 22 to 27, including evenings and weekend days.

Term of Internship
January 15 through May 15
This is a seasonal, part time, non-paid internship position. University or College Internship Credit may be earned with appropriate oversight and in accordance with the institution’s degree plans.

Austin Habitat for Humanity Seeking Grants Intern – Apply by 12/31

Austin Habitat for Humanity is currently seeking a Spring 2014 Grants Intern.

Job Description:

This position will assist the Grants Manager in all aspects of securing grant funding to support the programs of the organization (Affordable Homeownership, Home Repair, Housing Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention, and general operating support).

The intern selected will have the opportunity to gain experience in all of the following essential skills:
·         Research potential funding opportunities, including corporate, government, and foundation sources
·         Collect and analyze data for grant applications, including demographics and housing trends
·         Prepare information for grant applications
·         Develop case statements to aid in grant submissions
·         Review grant requirements to ensure compliance
·         Maintain grants filing and document retention system
·         Track grant proposals and next steps
·         Prepare grant status reports for internal use
·         Prepare draw requests as needed
·         Prepare grant reports for funders
·         Prepare for grant audits, if necessary
·         Maintain accurate grant-related information in donor database, grant calendar, and report calendar
·         Other duties as assigned

Education & Skills Required:
·          Some college experience required
·          Experience in grant writing preferred
·          Experience and/or interest in non-profits or affordable housing a plus
·          Strong research and writing skills required
·          Strong organizational skills required

A time commitment of about 8-10 hours per week for at least 3 months is expected.
