Out of School Program Intern
The Intern for Out of School Time Programs position will be either a (A) part-time role or (B) a set of responsibilities included in the job description of the Out of School Time Instructors. The Intern for Out of School Time Programs will oversee the progress and growth of the IT’S TIME TEXAS Out of School Time Programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate, organize, and execute projects for Out of School Time Programs
- Facilitate candidate selection and interviews for Out of School Time Instructors
- Publicize job opportunities through online postings, recruiting fairs, networking, etc.
- Attend monthly trainings to help improve out of school time programs
- Help design curriculum for Out of School Time Programs
- Help with searching for funding through grants, sponsorships and donations
- Help with promotions regarding Out of School Time Program
- Manage keeping history of the program
- Organize and help facilitate instructor meetings
- Help record all instructor evaluations into useable data
- Conduct Instructor/Supervisor evaluations
- Coach a variety of activities, sports & skills
- Develop students’ leadership skills via assigned roles within their teams
- Provide children special attention in a quality health and fitness based program

Minimum Requirements
- One year minimum of course credits obtained working towards Bachelors’ degree

Events and Initiatives Intern
The Events/Initiative Intern is responsible for a number of projects that vary in timeframe, scale, and orientation. Main projects are specific to the Events/Initiative department and secondary projects may incorporate other divisions of IT’S TIME TEXAS such as Outreach. The purpose of these projects is not only to help improve ITT’s impact on the community, but also to provide valuable knowledge and experience to the intern’s education and career aspirations. Interns will have the opportunity to assist in the development and promotion of the H-E-B Community Challenge, Hack for Health, Corporate Rallies, Corporate Service Days and management of local community events. Our events provide individuals and families with fun, interactive learning opportunities, and introduce community members to the benefits of active, healthy lifestyles.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with and provide support to Events/Initiatives Director
- Research organizations and businesses for inclusion in outreach efforts for ITT Initiatives
- Assist with calling and emailing organizations and businesses in areas
- Development of event collateral including on-line promotion
- Carry out event planning activities and arrangements as outlined by the Event Director
- Marketing and promotion of ITT Events and Initiatives
- Development of business partnerships
- Assists with administrative duties including fax processing, sorting, collating, stuffing envelopes, mailings and other administrative functions as assigned.

The Intern will assist with the overview and support of the development and implementation of various components of the IT’S TIME TEXAS (ITT) healthy living initiative. These components include the Choose Healthier Mobile App, Growing Healthy Schools, Slim Down Showdown Challenge, and Healthy Texas Week. This position will include working directly with various other departments to develop initiatives, programs, products, and events.
Key Responsibilities
Provide logistics support to the Project Development department
Provide market research relevant to the mission of the ITT initiative
Develop tools and resources to support the ITT initiative

Marketing and Communications Intern
The Communications and Marketing Intern is responsible for a number of projects that vary in timeframe, scale, and orientation. Main projects are specific to the Communications and Marketing department and secondary projects may incorporate other divisions of IT’S TIME TEXAS (ITT), such as Events or Outreach. The purpose of these projects is not only to help improve ITT’s impact on the community, but also to provide valuable knowledge and experience to the intern’s education and career aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with and provide support to Community Outreach Manager and the Director of Digital and Social Media
- Contribute to social media strategy for organizational events, initiatives and programs
- Support the creation and development of a variety of marketing and communication materials (i.e. newsletters, posters, flyers, press releases, etc…)
- Manage WordPress-based blog content
- Support the creation and maintenance of ITT’s digital properties (online and mobile apps)
- Edit and review copy and content
- Perform marketing research
Critical Skills/Abilities
- Experience utilizing a team-based approach to carry out projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and leverage resources accordingly
- Active involvement with social media (familiarity with Hootsuite a plus)
- Experience writing press releases and pitching media
- Basic web design and editing a plus (HTML, CSS)
- Familiarity with CMS (WordPress and Drupal a plus)
- Familiarity and Access to Adobe Creative Suite a plus
- Video and photo capturing and editing a plus

The Programs Intern will work closely with the Community and School Programs Managers to develop health education materials for the organization. The Programs Intern will be responsible for a number of projects that vary in timeframe, scale, and orientation. The purpose of the these projects is not only to help improve IT’S TIME TEXAS impact on the community, but also to provide valuable knowledge and experience to the intern’s education and career aspirations.

- Give support in creating and establishing an Ambassador program for high school and college students
- Give support in creating and establishing an ITT Volunteer Program
- Assist in developing a scalable model for the Choose Healthy Program
- Provide support in developing the Choose Healthy mobile App by contacting providers
- Support marketing and communication department during Healthy Texas Week
- When needed assist with events and service days
School Programs
- When needed assist with events and service days
- Aid the program team in the development of ITT curricula development through the Flash mobile App
- Help implement and evaluate Growing Healthy Schools, a crowd fundraising platform
- Help promote, manage and evaluate the Healthy School Audit and Design Concept
- Support efforts behind creating resources for School Health Advisory Councils (SHAC)
- Support marketing and communication department during Healthy Texas Week
- When needed assist with events and service days
Critical Skills/Abilities
- Strong nutrition knowledge, ideally coupled with education background
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, and creative with and ability to work under minimal supervision
- Interest in nutrition, business development, and/or education
Minimum Requirements
- Student working towards a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s student with a 3.0 GPA or higher
