Food is Free Project Seeking Fall Interns

The Food is Free Project (501c3 Nonprofit) grows community and food, while helping gain independence from a broken agricultural system. More and more people are recognizing the importance of local food and supporting our communities at home. Food is Free provides a platform for community interaction that opens doors to further collaboration and connection. Imagine driving down your street, where the majority of homes host a front yard community garden, neighbors come together for potlucks, establish tool-sharing and community composting programs while creating safer, more beautiful neighborhoods. Check out our promo video here: http://foodisfreeproject.org/about-us/

We are currently in need of interns because of our massive growth over the past two years! Intern perks include attending all FIF events and workdays.

Positions:

Community Engagement Intern: help promote our mission, specifically in the Austin area, by supporting our outreach efforts. This includes communicating with external and internal partners, event coordination, research, data entry, and other duties as assigned. Interns get to work in a variety of areas. Prospects should have strong communications skills.
Grants Management Intern: conduct comprehensive research to identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government institutions. Experience in fundraising, development and grant writing.
Media Intern: manager our online presence across website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media networking sites. Tasks may include writing, graphic design, editing and uploading content, and other web related requests.

We are looking to select new intern/street team members within the next two weeks. We are also willing to work with you if you are working on receiving internship credit through your university.

To apply, send your resume and the following information to abz@foodisfreeproject.org:

Name, year in school, name of school, and answers to the following questions:

1. Why do you think food should be free?

2. How do you currently incorporate our mission into your lifestyle?

3. What ideas do you have to grow the Food is Free project in new cities?

4. Why do you want to intern with FIF, and what do you hope to get out of your experience?

5. What position are you interested in?
