Kiva, the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, is seeking Spring 2015 Kiva Fellows. If you are curious about economic development, community engagement, and social enterprise, this could be a great opportunity (and a potential Connecting Experience). Read below for more info. Applications are due September 28th.
The Kiva Fellows Program is an exciting opportunity to become part of Kiva, the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending organization. With opportunities spanning from Nairobi to New York City, Kiva is in the midst of expansion. Recently, Kiva launched a new program,Kiva Zip, that supports entrepreneurs in the United States. This initiative is on the cutting edge of microfinance impact in the United States, with the goal of expanding financial inclusion, supporting local job creation, and increasing the connectedness between borrowers and lenders through crowdfunded microloans.
Kiva Fellows are the direct connection to local communities, immersing themselves within communities, working with non-profits, government officials, community development corporations and financial institutions, chambers of commerce, and other community leaders to scale Kiva Zip. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for students to be at the forefront of helping to revitalize their communities and local economies, gain experience in a startup environment, build a local community, and capitalize on technology solutions for economic development.
The application deadline is September 28, 2014 (with deployment to the field in late January to early February, 2015). Apply at https://www.kiva.org/register?doneUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kiva.org%2Ffellows%2Fapply.
