THE KILLAM FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAM
The Killam Fellowships Program provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students from American universities to spend either one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in Canada. University of Texas at Austin students apply to the direct exchange program through partner institutions, register at their home institution and attend the host institution as an exchange student. During the course of their fellowship, University of Texas at Austin students will continue to pay tuition and fees to their home institution.
VALUE OF AWARD
- $5000 for one semester
- Health Insurance Allowence
- Up to $800 for in-country travel
- Killam Orientation in Ottawa, ON
- Spring Seminar in Washington, DC
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS | Students must :
- be an American citizen,
- be currently enrolled, and in good standing, as a full-time undergraduate student (BA, BS or BAH) at an accredited degree-granting institution in the United States (please note that professional degrees are normally not eligible),
- be expected to be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in good standing during the 2015-16 academic year, should he/she be selected for an award,
- be expected to receive an undergraduate degree in the Spring 2016, or beyond,
- meet the eligibility requirements and regulations of the home university,
- be proficient in English, and in French, should the student plan to study at a French language institution,
- have a superior academic record,
- be able to complete all steps of the application process prior to the published deadlines, and
- be nominated by the home university, in the instance of the direct exchange program

- Applicants must be recommended by their home institution for the direct exchange program
- Applications are reviewed by an independent adjudication committee of faculty members from Canadian and American universities
- Selection is open and competitive, based on a combination of academic standing, personal statements, and references
