Summer Internships at the Miracle Foundation

The Miracle Foundation is an Austin-based nonprofit focused on empowering orphans to reach their full potential. We transform the lives of orphan children by revolutionizing the way orphanages are run, funded and managed. The Miracle Foundation partners with existing orphanages to implement our proven and systematic method that turns struggling, institutional orphanages into stable, loving, nurturing homes where children can thrive and truly change the story of their lives.

Are you interested in acting globally – right here in Austin – this summer? We are always looking for enthusiastic and committed people to help us fulfill our mission of empowering orphans to reach their full potential. You can give your time, talents and experience at our busy and lively Austin headquarters and truly know what you do makes an impact on the other side of the world.

Intern responsibilities vary, but are generally in one of the following areas:

-Office Administration

-Development/Events

-Finance

-Marketing

-Process Documentation

-Programs

Interns should be able to give at least 10 hours/week of their time.

Community Organizer Positions at Texas Campaign for the Environment

 Texas Campaign for the Environment is Texas’ largest non-profit environmental organization. TCE works both locally and statewide to sustain and improve environmental standards, preserve our valuable natural resources and promote democratic processes in which the voice of the people determines the policy that affects our communities and quality of life.

 We are currently hiring entry-level campaign staff to organize local grassroots campaigns to protect the health, economy, environment and livelihood of Texas communities. Ideal candidates possess strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to the environment, progressive politics and the empowerment of our fellow Texas residents.

 Come join the campaign staff at TCE to:

-Educate the public about the importance of hazardous waste recycling in Texas

-Build our strength in numbers to stand up against companies and decision makers

-Organize community members to get their voices heard by our local elected officials

 Qualifications: Ideal candidates possess excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to the vision of a just, sustainable and equitable society.

 Hours:

Full Time: Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
Part Time: Any 3 weekdays, 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

 Salary: $10.00/hr + Opportunities for bonuses

Summer Internship available at Water to Thrive

Duration of Internship: Now-August 2015 (Dates flexible)

Location: Austin, Texas

Areas of Focus: Marketing and Outreach

Hours Per Week: 15-40 hrs per week (part and full-time positions available)

POSITION OVERVIEW

About Water to Thrive: Water to Thrive is a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to the mission of bringing safe, clean water to communities in rural Africa. In the past 6 years, over 500 wells have been built, providing the gift of clean water to more than 250,000 people in East Africa.

Water To Thrive (W2T) is looking for an energetic, highly motivated Marketing and Outreach intern to work in our in Austin, Texas office.

This position requires researching and developing strategies for supporters, organizations, and media (local and national) to promote Water To Thrive and build sustainable engagement across the country.

Candidates should have strong written communication skills as well as in-depth knowledge of social media channels including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Vimeo. Public relations experience is preferred.

The Marketing and Outreach Intern will gain valuable experience working with various people in both the non-profit and private sector all while learning about the internal operations of growing, passionate non-profit organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Updating social media channels
  • Assist with compiling outreach contact lists and send press releases
  • Help organize donor information and profiles
  • Research creative and innovative ideas to promote W2T and our initiatives
  • Reflect W2T’S voice and tone in all communications (possibly presentations in community and through webinars)
  • Work across departments to assist, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold minimum sophomore-level college/university standing with experience in Sociology, Psychology, Communications, Marketing, PR, or Journalism
  • Be a self-starter who is able to take responsibility for projects and work independently
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Be detail-oriented, a problem solver, an efficient multi-tasker and extremely organized
  • Be devoted to and believe in the vision and mission of W2T
  • Have a strong knowledge of computer and word processing applications
  • Have a working knowledge of using social media tools for business
  • Have a working knowledge of emerging technology platforms
  • Have an assertive, can do attitude and be able to work independently as well as be a team player
  • Flexibility in schedule
  • Previous marketing experience and background a plus
  • Access to a laptop computer and a smartphone device
  • Must have reliable transportation

There may be occasional opportunities for work-related travel for presentations or events.
