TXPOST is currently seeking a part-time intern to work 20-25 hours per week providing support in communications and marketing. Work Hours: 20-25 hours Monday – Friday.
Responsibilities:
The Communications Intern will report to the Executive Director and support TXPOST’s mission in the following ways:
- Finalize content and design for fact sheets and presentations
- Write issue briefs, op-eds, policy papers, and other print/online communications pieces that clearly explain afterschool and summer learning issues to stakeholders, the media, and the public
- Provide support to the TXPOST Marketing and Communications Committee on regular conference calls
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of 60 hours of college coursework
- Effective listening and exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Graphic design experience
- Self-motivated with creative problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Dependable and flexible
- A sense of humor, strong work ethic, and dedication to systems change to benefit children and youth
- Proficiency in using computers, specifically MS Office and graphic design software
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or education in the afterschool, summer learning or youth development field, communications/media, public affairs, education, or nonprofit management
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations or Graphic Design or other relevant field
Compensation:
This position offers a monthly stipend based on experience. TXPOST will also work with the successful candidate’s university to pursue course credit for the internship.
