WeViva (www.weviva.org)is a nonprofit organization in Austin, with a mission to provide accessible and affordable fitness and nutrition classes to people in lowincome communities. We target adults and bring engaging, bilingual classes to various locations throughout the city. Our classes are held in apartment complexes, community rec centers, senior living facilities, schools, and churches. All of our programming is completely free for our participants.
WeViva is currently seeking Program Interns to help with the following tasks:
● Assist Program Director and Program Manager with the scheduling and organization of fitness and nutrition classes
● Attend fitness classes and assist WeViva contractors at various partner organizations in Austin (would require some evening availability)
● Maintain attendance sheets and waivers as well as create reports on participation rates.
● Create marketing materials for fitness and nutrition classes.
● Assist Executive Director with various administrative tasks.
All interns would also get exposure to: social marketing tools, grant searching and writing, basic office tasks, community outreach opportunities, etc.
The intern needs to have the following qualifications:
● Interest in helping lowincome populations
● Interest in health, wellness, nutrition, fitness
● Must have own computer and regular internet access
● Ability to work from home
● Ability to drive to locations that are hosting the fitness and nutrition classes.
● An understanding of a small startup nonprofit environment
● Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Hours are negotiable; Interns are expected to work at the office: 4107 Medical Parkway Suite 200, Austin, TX 78756, at least 3 days per week and work at least 15 hours per week for the duration of the internship. This may include time spent at different class locations. Available internship credit hours through university program; the intern is required to setup credit hours and WeViva will complete any necessary paperwork.

Nutrition Internship Description:

○ Class lecture/discussion prep
○ Pre and posttest administration
○ Ingredient prep and cooking demonstration
○ Recipe and recipe book creation
○ Lead supermarket tours
