Texas 4000’s mission is to cultivate student leaders and engage communities in the fight against cancer. We share hope, knowledge and charity through leadership development, grant making, and our cornerstone event, a 4,000+ mile bike ride from Austin to Anchorage.
Public Relations Intern
You will be responsible for developing and constructing a media coverage report for the 2017 summer ride. This will include researching media impressions for different outlets, compiling press links, and formatting and composing an attractive, concise report. Past experience with media impression research encouraged but not required.
Attention to detail is a must. Ability to learn quickly and apply common sense to detailed yet straightforward instructions. Excellent organization, communication, writing and problem solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects while staying organized. Work well with our team of volunteers and riders or solo when needed
Organizational Support Intern
You will assist in the execution of any daily tasks at hand around the office including, but not limited to, answering telephones and taking messages, processing outgoing mail, operating office machines, filing, and thanking donors and managing relationships with our sponsors. This could be perfect for someone looking for an entry-level position to gain experience in the non-profit world.

Program Support Intern
The Program Support intern will assist the Program Director with projects related to the Texas 4000 leadership development program, the alumni network, and program evaluation, depending on the individual’s skills, interests, and experience. Attention to detail, innovative thinking, and the ability to think critically are necessary to success for this position.

Grants Intern
The Grants intern will work closely with the Development & Program Director as well as the Executive Director to research potential grants, write letters of interest and grant proposals, and manage the process of applying to granting organizations.
Prior experience with grant writing desired, but not required. Applicants should have strong writing skills, background or interest in the nonprofit sector, and the agency to lead and complete projects independently. Applicants for this position should submit a writing sample in addition to their other materials.
