Austin Furniture Bank (AFB) recycles new and gently used household furnishings from individuals and corporate donors then distributes these items to our client population which includes those transitioning from homelessness, women and children, refugees, families living below the poverty line and victims of domestic violence. Our priority has been and always will be Veterans. AFB is also available to help the elderly, disabled and those who have lost all to fire, a natural disaster or personal tragedy. These clients are referred to us by social agencies, registered community shelters, and faith-based organizations. By acting as a hub between donors and social agencies, the AFB is able to connect individuals and families in need with furnishings for their homes. Our services not only help those in need, but also has a positive ecological impact on the community as we divert tons of home furnishings from our local landfills.
AFB is looking for a student who might be able to help with social media, webpage design and other outreach tasks. Students can learn more about AFB on their facebook page or the website for TEXVET, one of their partners (see links below).
