National civil and human rights organization Black Women’s Blueprint seeks a passionate and savvy intern to assist in all aspects of organizational and campaign fundraising under the direction of the Director of Strategic Development.
We are especially interested to hear from candidates who:
- Demonstrate an investment in, and familiarity with, the language of Black feminism(s)
- Celebrate intersectional and/or anti-oppressive ways of experiencing the world
- Exhibit a keen sense for the details as well as strong writing and editing chops
- Are able to responsibly participate in dialogue and/or write about sensitive and painful subject matter, including various forms of sexual and/or state violence
- Understand best practices in digital campaigning and/or community organizing
- Are proactive yet not afraid to ask for help
- Would be comfortable and forthright when making cold calls or meeting new people
- See themselves pursuing a career in issue advocacy and/or nonprofit management
- Have strong working knowledge of Google for online research and collaborative projects (Drive, Docs, Spreadsheets, etc)
This is a local opportunity for the Austin, Texas metropolitan area. The internship is paid and part-time, 10-15 hours a week. Promotion to a full-time opportunity may be available down the line for experienced candidates. Most work can be completed from home, but the candidate must be available for flexible daytime (9am-6pm) in-person meetings and strategy sessions. Use of personal cell phone and laptop required. Access to transportation preferred, but will provide as needed.
Duties will vary, but as the fundraising intern you can expect to:
- Provide general administrative support to the Director of Strategic Development
- Maintain participant and/or donor profiles in our database (will train on our CRM)
- Assist with the production of compelling and pithy direct mail, e-blasts, newsletters, magazines, social media posts and other fundraising communications materials
- Assist in the generation of a variety of materials including receipts, donation reminders, year-end tax letters, regular and special reports, etc.
- Coordinate gratitude/recognition and fundraising incentive programs for BWB constituents and members
- Coordinate fundraising phone banks as appropriate
- Research foundations and act on opportunities to increase the resource base of the organization under the direction of the Director of Strategic Director and the Executive Director
- Work closely with team members in communications and advocacy to align all solicitations with the organizational calendar and current events in the news cycle
- Provide marketing and on-site logistical support for fundraising events (may require out of state travel)
- Participate via conference call at the weekly BWB staff meeting (held in our Brooklyn, NY headquarters) on Monday mornings
- Receive consistent and regular mentorship and feedback from the Director of Strategic Development
