Internship Title: Side by Side Kids – Afterschool Program Intern
Purpose of the Position: The Afterschool Program Intern is responsible for supporting and further developing the
afterschool program through managing special projects and researching and/or developing new program activities.
Responsibilities and Duties Summary:
● Prepare for the upcoming days and/or weeks of summer programming
● Process student and program data
● Provide additional support by leading recreation activities, crafts, curriculum, etc.
● Research, develop, and create games, worksheets, and other educational activities for students’ use
● Create and prepare curriculum, activities, games, and supplies for summer programming and special events
● Assist with curriculum development as needed
● Support staff with any of the following administrative tasks: data entry, supply closet maintenance, file organization,
shredding, event planning, etc.
● Attend weekly meetings with SBSK staff
● Coordinate with other interns, volunteers, and staff, as needed
● All other duties assigned
Time Involvement Required: This position is a part-time internship with 5-20 hours per week. Hours will flex to accommodate some morning, evening, and weekend activities. The term of this position is for one school semester.
Work Site: The Afterschool Program Intern will report to the SBSK Support Center, and various sites within the community.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
● Interest in youth and afterschool programming and understanding of its positive impact to the community it serves
● Excellent writing and editing skills
● Excellent interpersonal and relational skills
● Experience using Microsoft Office products and Google Drive
● Excellent organizational skills and an eye for detail
● Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required

Internship Title: Side by Side Kids – Communications and Media Intern
Purpose of the Position: The Communications and Media Intern is responsible for collaborating with the Side by Side Kids Creative Team to manage social media accounts, newsletter updates, and design projects.
Responsibilities and Duties Summary:
● Raise awareness and attract new people to Side by Side Kids (SBSK) through online content
● Grow our database of student, family and volunteer information
● Maintain and update the SBSK blog weekly with entries, pictures, videos, graphics, etc.
● Attend pertinent SBSK staff meetings
● Compose articles and stories for publications
● Discover viable social media platforms for SBSK
● Analyze social media analytics and trends
● Support ongoing design projects and needs
● All other duties assigned
Time Involvement Required: This position is a part-time internship with 5-15 hours per week. Hours will flex to accommodate some morning, evening, and weekend activities. The term of this position is for 1 school semester.
Work Site: The Communications and Media Intern will report to the SBSK Support Center, the assigned elementary schools, and various sites within the community.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
● Background in Journalism, Business, Public Relations, or other related discipline
● Skills with photography and videography
● Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills
● Ability to construct, compile and condense articles into meaningful summaries
● Creativity with developing content and discovering solutions
● Strong understanding of social media, marketing, and branding
● Highly organized and a self starter with an ability to work on projects and tasks independently
● Written and spoken knowledge of English and Spanish preferred, but not required

Purpose of the Position: The Human Resources Intern is responsible for supporting the Human Resources Director in managing systems, creating recruitment strategies and implanting policies that align with the mission and core values of Side by Side Kids.
Responsibilities and Duties Summary:
● Research HR trends and law changes that may affect SBSK
● Process data and run various reports
● Research, develop, and create strategies for recruiting and sustaining employees
● Provide additional support for SBSK afterschool programming as needed
● Support SBSK staff with any of the following administrative tasks: data entry, file organization, shredding, event
planning, training prep, etc.
● Attend pertinent meetings with SBSK staff
● Coordinate with other interns, volunteers, and staff, as needed
● All other duties assigned
