Capitol School of Austin (CSA) is a private, non-profit school for children ages 2 years – 4th grade who are identified with speech, language and learning differences. CSA classrooms are taught by speech pathologists and special educators. Although the groups have a smaller student : teacher ratio, having a third set of hands in a classroom is often helpful for staff to provide students the modifications and accommodations they need to be a successful in a group learning environment. A Bridging Disciplines intern has the opportunity to work hands on in a classroom, discuss and practice behavior management using Conscious Discipline techniques, and engage in a case-study of an individual in your group if desired. There are internship openings in preschool and school-age classrooms. Hours are flexible within the school-day which runs Monday – Thursday from 8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. and Fridays from 8:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. If interested, please send a resume to Jeannette Young at jyoung@capitolschool.com.
