Since 2010 HealthStart Foundation has been teaching young children the science behind good health. We teach kids how their brain, bones, muscles and circulatory and digestive systems work, what to eat and about the fitness activities needed to keep every part of their bodies healthy and strong. HealthStart’s programs also teach kids that when they care of one another and our environment they help build community health and wellbeing.
Health Programs Communications Coordinator
As HealthStart grows and expands beyond Austin, the Health Programs Communications Coordinator will act as one of our chief ambassadors. You will work with community organizations, businesses, and individuals to identify and recruit volunteers for our programs by helping them understand our mission and our impact. You will assist with program operations and help maintain outstanding relationships with the agencies and organizations that have adopted our programs. You will communicate our learning opportunities and successes through social media and other channels.
HealthStart seeks a part-time, 25 hour per week, Health Programs Communications Coordinator with highly developed organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and passion for building a healthier future for our children and our communities. This position reports directly the Executive Director.
Duties will include:
- Community Outreach: Represent HealthStart in the community with businesses, higher education organization, and community organizations. Assist with health promotion activities, community wellness fairs, and other events that educate and raise HealthStart’s profile
- Social Media Outreach: Develop posts, articles and other content for HealthStart’s social media accounts and newsletter
- Volunteer Management and Recruitment: Recruit and train interns and volunteers for HealthStart’s program delivery.
- External Operations: Lead community-based children’s health education workshops at various locations with various community partners. Assist with program content and materials development
- Internal Operations: Attend and assist with various HealthStart Committees
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree or be in the process of completing their bachelor’s degree
- 1-year nonprofit experience working with volunteers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (writing sample required).
- Experience managing and delivering social medial content preferably on Facebook,Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Work well in a collaborative, team environment
- Basic computer operations including WORD, EXCEL, PPTX, ADOBE, and Dropbox and G-Suite
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
- $1400 per month
