Our Internship Opportunities:
Community Programs – It’s Time Texas’ Community Programs Team seeks a practicum student/ intern interested in community programs that address health collaboratives, the social determinants of health, and community engagement. This student will be excited to assist in building a program from the ground up and utilize innovative technology to support community health programs. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who is able to take initiative in identifying solutions to problems. He or she is comfortable with technology and troubleshooting issues as they arise, as well as a skilled communicator, confident in making cold calls and reaching out to potential partners in a warm and professional manner. One position is available with the Community Programs team.
Marketing and Communications – The Marketing department seeks interns with strong written and in-person communication skills who can think creatively and harness their specific skills to deepen engagement with current It’s Time Texas’ supporters and raise awareness of the cause. The purpose of these projects is not only to help improve It’s Time Texas’ impact on the community but also to provide valuable knowledge and experience to the intern’s education and career aspirations. The ideal candidate is a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior working toward a Bachelor’s’ degree in public relations, advertising, marketing, film, design, or a related field who is Public Relations savvy. A willingness to jump in and get things done is a must for a Marketing and Communications Intern. Familiarity with CMS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva as well as experience with photo and video editing is a plus.
Stronger Austin – The Stronger Austin Program seeks interns who are aspiring leaders eager to make an impact in the community. Our team of interns will work closely with the Stronger Austin team to research, develop, implement, and promote this local initiative and are responsible for assisting with projects that vary in time-frame, scale, and orientation. We are seeking interns who are excited to work on a new initiative and are eager to learn, contribute, shape, and mold the work we do. The ideal candidate is a student working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public health, health education, exercise science, social work, marketing, communications or a related field. Stronger Austin Interns must have a basic knowledge of health promotion, fitness, and/or public health. Basic HTML, CSS, and database management and knowledge of health promotion theories and/or exercise science are a plus, but not required. Bilingual: Spanish & English is a plus.
What you will bring:
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and leverage resources accordingly
- Ability and willingness to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision
- Ability to stick to strict deadlines, often with tight turnarounds
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suites
- Attendance at mandatory New Intern Orientation
- Fall interns will be required to work on Healthier Texas Summit projects the week of Summit. Supervisors should plan for this at the beginning of each fall semester.
- Fall Interns will be required to work the Healthier Texas Summit, October 29th & 30th.
Compensation: Non-paid; College Credit Offered
At It’s Time Texas, our internship is Non-Paid; however, we do offer college credit for our interns who require an internship for their degree.
