Grants & Research Intern
Transcendent Endeavors, a company that develops digital products to help people in the areas of healthcare, education, and communication, is recruiting a full-time Grants and Research Associate in New York, NY or remote. We are searching for a part-time intern for a minimum period of 4 months with the possibility of extension to 12 months and full-time hours between semesters. A full-time offer may be extended at the end of the internship period. We are looking for someone who is passionate about using technology to improve health for underserved populations and excited by a start-up culture and a fast-paced work environment. As a part of the Grants and Research team, you will help apply for grants and carry out currently-funded projects.
Responsibilities may include:
- Writing and editing applications for funding from agencies such as the NIH
- Conducting systematic reviews and literature searches
- Drafting and editing Institutional Review Board protocols, consent forms, paper and electronic surveys, and qualitative interview and focus group guides
- Preparing annual and final reports to funders for current grants
- Implementation of pilot studies and roll-outs of products with partner sites
- Coding and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
- Help carry out the development, implementation, and analysis of each several projects
- Attending external meetings with potential or existing partner organizations
Sample Projects:
This is a sample list of possible projects and areas that you may get to work on.
- Language acquisition projects such as interactive e-books for pre-elementary and elementary school-aged children, a language learning app with availability of 17 different languages, a health care bedside translation app that enables English speakers to speak to their patients in the patient’s language by selecting a phrase for the app to speak.
- Patient adherence technology focused on improving a variety of healthy behaviors, improving appointment and medication adherence, and which target different psychometrics.
- Technologies that test and train bilingual providers in the medical setting.
- Research populations vary widely from children to older adults. Disease focus is also varied including Maternal health, oncology, substance abuse prevention, end stage renal, HIV, etc. as well as targeting healthy behaviors such as nutrition, physical activity, drug prevention, and more. Our research also focuses on psycho demographics and socio demographics.
Qualifications:
- Strong writing skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, public health, psychology, or related field (for undergraduate level internship)
- MPH, masters or other relevant graduate degree, or in the process of completing a masters or Ph.D. (for graduate level internship)
- Ability to work under high pressure and manage multiple priorities and projects
- 1-2 years experience in health-related research
- Proficiency in Excel
Preferred skills:
- Proficiency in other languages, particularly Spanish or Mandarin, would be an asset.
Compensation/Credit:
- Undergraduate level internship: $14-16 per hour or stipend depending on time available
- Graduate level internship: $16-20 per hour or stipend depending on time available
- Academic credit available
