The Campus Environmental Center (CEC) is hiring for several paid undergraduate leadership roles that begin either this summer or in the fall.

The Microfarm Project Co-Leader manages a student-run garden located at the Whitaker Intramural Fields. In addition to maintaining and enhancing the existing garden space, the Microfarm Leader manages volunteer workdays and develops planting schedules. They also manage the community garden including communications with community gardeners and other pre-existing collaborations. They facilitate events, projects, and workshops for the purpose of engaging the UT community with conversations around equity and sustainability in the food system.

This position will focus on EITHER the responsibilities and duties for Trash to Treasure OR Making Amends. The Trash to Treasure project team works to divert students’ gently-used goods from the landfill and hosts garage-sale style events. Making Amends is the new creative upcycling initiative of the Trash to Treasure project created in the Fall of 2020. The initiative aims to provide UT students with the tools and resources necessary to upcycle garments that have been donated to the Trash to Treasure project.

The Environmental Justice Collective Co-Leader promotes knowledge about environmental justice within the greater UT community through educational workshops, speaker events, curriculum change, campaigns, etc. The EJ Collective Leader will focus on educational programming, advocating for change on campus, and community outreach. This role involves engaging faculty and students in difficult conversations about environmental justice issues within UT.

The Communications Coordinator manages and oversees the communication channels (newsletter, social media) and promotional efforts of the CEC. They create clear and consistent messaging with the Co-Directors and execute the messaging with the Communications Team.
