Pilipino American Unity for Progress (UniPro) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions a unified and engaged Pilipino America. Founded in 2009, UniPro’s mission is to engage Pilipino Americans through collaboration, advocacy, and education. It seeks to transform Pilipino students & young professionals into community leaders through its various programs, which incorporate professional development, history, and policy through the Pilipino experience lens. The organization allows Pilipino Americans to explore their place in the community in the hope of owning their niche. The events team hosts 2-4 events a month, from panels to workshops.Intern: Events and Partnerships
Time Commitment: 10 hours per week (unpaid but can provide course credit)
Duration: 12 weeksUniPro New York is in search of creative and detail-oriented individuals who have an interest in event planning. The ideal Event Coordinator Intern is a hard-working and detail-oriented individual. They should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and an interest in the non-profit industry.
This position will provide hands-on experience working with our event planning team and assist with various tasks. Interns are responsible for assisting in the planning and organizing of events. Being a committed and outgoing individual is an essential component for this position.
Responsibilities
- Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process
- Participate in coordinating events
- Conduct research
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Follow procedures to ensure all content is optimized across all platforms and user experiences (websites, social, video, blogs, etc.)
- Support planning and coordination for the event
- Logistical and administrative tasks related to the events
- Day of event management
- Work with the Comms Team on the promotion of reception & brand activations as appropriate
- General Support
- Direct management of assigned elements within events may include but are not limited to:
- Production logistics; all related elements day of the event
- coordinate event activities and logistics with all participants and committees for the event
- sponsorship proposals & targets
- related Marketing material and distribution of marketing materials
- completion of all documentation as agreed, including but not limited to registration forms, invitation letters, surveys, thank you letters, and day of event signatory pages and event recap.
Qualifications
- Strong writing skills for blog and content creation
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient with basic computer skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from various departments
- Must have a positive attitude
