Position Summary
Working with a small team and under the supervision of the Criminal Justice Digital Media Manager, the Criminal Justice Digital Media Intern will work with the project team to help create toolkits, generate content for websites, and assist in the rollout of media content in the works.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns
- Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos and press releases on social media and traditional news outlets
- Assist with photo/video content shoots
- Support team at in-person and online events
- Perform social media marketing research
- Brainstorm and research ideas for original content
- Create compelling graphics to share across social channels
- Write social media captions that speak to the nonprofit’s target audience
- Help create and edit short-form videos
- Develop new strategies for increasing engagement
- Format issue briefs, infographics, and other communication materials
Candidate Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in the communications industry, which includes school clubs, prior internships, freelancing, and personal projects
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent internet research skills
- Skilled in social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Experience with content management systems, word processor applications, and image/video editing software, primarily Canva and Adobe CC
- Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in digital marketing/social media marketing
Background Information
The digital media intern will report directly to the Criminal Justice Digital Media Manager. This position is a hybrid position (part remote, part in person) based out of Austin, TX. This internship pays $15 an hour, and requires at least 10 to 15 hours per week. This is a fall internship, with potential for renewal in the spring and summer.
