Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Policy Intern to support the TxILC team with tracking the implementation of laws passed during the 89th Texas Legislative Session. This internship offers the opportunity to engage directly with the post-legislative process and contribute to our policy advocacy efforts. The intern will assist in outreach to local agencies and organizations, conduct research on policy issues, and help draft resources for both the public and elected officials. This role is ideal for someone passionate about policy, legislative implementation, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the policy team in monitoring and implementing laws passed in the 89th Texas Legislative Session.
- Conduct research on relevant policies, including their potential impacts on immigrant communities.
- Assist in outreach to organizations, local agencies, and stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and gather feedback on policy implementation.
- Draft accessible, public-facing resources that simplify complex policies for both the general public and elected officials.
- Help prepare policy briefs and materials to support ongoing advocacy efforts.
- Track and report on the progress of policy implementation, ensuring key stakeholders are informed.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field.
- Strong interest in immigration policy and advocacy.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
Commitment: This is a part-time internship (10-15 hours/week) for the duration of the Spring 2026 semester. Flexible scheduling is available.
