3 Day Startup Austin

3 Day Startup is an international non-profit organization that teaches university students how to start a company over the course of a weekend.

3DS Austin is the local program. Over the weekend, students form teams, develop an idea, conduct market research, talk to customers, create a prototype, and pitch to real investors by Sunday night. Students get to collaborate with talented peers from different backgrounds and get mentored by successful Austin entrepreneurs.

The event is free for participants, open to all majors, and we’ll even provide food for all three days.

The Spring 3DS Austin program will take place April 8-10. If you’re interested in participating or learning more, please visit austin.3daystartup.org to apply by March 13.

Apply to Join Prelaw Undergraduate Scholars Program

The HT/UT DiscoverLaw.org Prelaw Undergraduate Scholars Program is officially launched!

This FREE five-week summer program aims to help prepare students learn about careers in law and prepare for law school. For information about the program and to apply, visit http://htutdiscoverlaw.org/

To be eligible, students must have at least 30 but no more than 60 hours in residence at the end of the Spring 2015 semester, and have a minimum GPA of at least 2.50 (no rounding).

Applications are due at 8 a.m. (CDT) April 27. Applicants will need two recommendations and must submit transcripts (so get started now!).

Apply to Attend Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy

The Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy (SISE) is a summer intensive workshop that focuses on current topics in energy, sustainable energy, and sustainability. Participants converge at the University of Illinois at Chicago where they live and work together in a tight-knit, diverse community of energy-minded students and professionals. The SISE experience affords participants time and resources to explore pressing energy topics in an immersive environment. These future energy leaders are educated to make decisions about energy at the personal, civic, and global levels, in energy related fields including science, technology, entrepreneurship, economics, policy, planning, and behavior.

The program convenes for eight-hours a day over a two-week period in early August. There is no cost to attend the conference, and scholarships may be available to help with travel and lodging.
